A pair of Prospect Mountain harriers outraced the competition at Friday afternoon’s Central Lakes Invitational. Cody Symonds and Alexandria Rogers — both Timberwolves seniors — won the boys and girls races, respectively, held at Gilford High School. Symonds crossed the line in 16 minutes, 26.2 seconds, just a three-tenths of a second faster than Inter-Lakes’ junior Cameron Daly. Rogers had more breathing room in her race, finishing in 21:44. Runner-up Malissa Seeley of Inter-Lakes clocked in at 22:00.
Though the T’Wolves claimed the top individual spots, the team victories went to the Lakers boys and Gilford girls. Inter-Lakes had three finishers in the top seven on the boys side while the Golden Eagles girls placed three in the top nine.
On the boys side, Symonds and Daly were followed in order by I-L’s Trevor Colby (16:47), Gilford’s Ryan LaFrance (17:05) and Bishop Brady’s Warren Bartlett (17:30). Winnisquam Regional’s top finisher was Zack Baker (eighth, 18:08) while Quinlan Trexler led Moultonborough Academy (14th, 19:10) and Chris Spooner-Bishop was the speediest runner for Belmont (42nd, 22:42).
In the girls race, Carly White (22:20), Winnisquam’s Caitlin Dumont (22:29) and Gilford’s Madison Relf (22:49) rounded out the top five after Rogers and Seeley. Moultonborough’s Rachel Smith (22:55) and Kelsey Mako (22:58) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, while Talia Sperduto (13th, 23:33) paced the Red Raiders.
