Team Blog: Mascenic Week 7

A special thank you to Mascenic’s XC Captain Briana Boulerice for providing all of us with an insight to her cross country experience this season!  Without fail, we receive her entries EVERY week!  Thanks Briana!

Week 7

With only a four day week of school, the week went by fast. Our biggest workout of the week was a repeat of a workout from earlier in the season. The only difference is that this time everyone is expected to do two more than they did last time. Many of our workouts later in the season are just repeats of workouts we have already done just turned up a notch. This allows us to track progress, especially with the help of our workout cards. Everyone keeps a note card that has the specifics of important workouts written down, including the number of repeats and at what pace they are run at in order to achieve goal pace by the end of the season. It shows progress throughout the season, and when you’ve been doing it for a few years like myself, you can see how far you’ve come since you started.

On Friday, the team headed up to the Belmont invitational. The weather conditions were not what some would call ideal, which made the race that much better. Stomping through puddles didn’t slow us down. Personally, it was one of the best races I’ve run all season in relation to how I performed and how much I enjoyed it. The boys’ team placed first overall and the girls’ team placed sixth. While these places are great accomplishments in themselves, they hold more value in the respect that they indicate we are on the right track to be where we are aiming for the end of the season.  With three weeks to go, it’s nice to see we’re headed where we are aiming for.
