Congratulations to Coe-Brown’s Elisabeth Danis on NXR Northeast-131qualifying for Nike Cross Nationals in Oregon.  She placed 8th at the Nike Northeast Regional with a time of 18:47 on the rain soaked Bowdoin Park in Wappinger’s Fall, NY.  One of the fastest and consistent, but most underrated harriers in NH cross country history, her gutsy performance has her being our only rep on the national level this year.

NXR Northeast-135The Coe-Brown girls and Pinkerton Boys represented what cross country is all about in New Hampshire.  Their collective speed, toughness and fearlessness was on display as they showed they belonged with the very best our nation has to offer. CBNA actually tied for 2nd but officially placed third on the tiebreaker with New England Champion LaSalle, who topped the Lady Bears by 26 points 2 weeks ago at Thetford.  CBNA also beat nationally ranked Unionville, Pa. Scoring for CBNA were Brooke Laskowsky 25th, Alli Pratt 31st, Meg Scannell 36th, and Julia Cormier 53rd.

The Pinkerton boys upset several ranked teams, most NXR Northeast-37notably New England champ LaSalle and NJ champ Don Bosco Prep.  Once again The Long Red Line was led by the gutsy performance of Nick Sevilla and his 11th place finish.  Also scoring for the Astros were Jeff Reddy 32nd, Noah Davis 43rd, Calvin Graves 58th, and Tom Hanlon 74th.  Unfortunately for both CBNA and Pinkerton, the NXN committee did not select them for 1 of the 4 At-Large bids.

NXR Northeast-191Also of note, the Souhegan girls ran with a strong pack to place 11th in the Northeast and were led by Jane Leighton’s 74th place finish!  The Coe-Brown boys placed 19th in the Northeast and were paced by Davio DeLuca’s 90th place finish.  Notable individuals include Bedford’s Leya Salis placing 19th (3rd Team All Northeast), Exeter’s Violet Sullivan 41st, Londonderry’s Cam Dickson 52nd, and Merrimack Valley’s Kristie Schoffield 55th.

Over at Footlocker, NH boys ran strong led by State Champ Cam Daly’s 13th place finish.  Liam Kimball placed 17th, Dom Repucci 18th, Patrick O’Brien 33rd and Kendal Westhoff 37th.   Maegan Doody placed 28th, Jackie Gaughan 34th, Danielle Slavin 41st, and Haley Markos 61st.  Top 10 qualified for Nationals.

  1. Congratulations to Liz and her team mates. I can’t believe they didn’t receive a wild card spot after tying a team that made it. They’ve had a great run over the years and it’s easy to have them represent New Hampshire and they’ve done a fine job. Good luck to Danis at NXN.
