Footlocker Diary: Patrick O’Brien

Day 1boys-small

Today was the first day of the Footlocker experience and it was a full one. After waking up at 4:00 am and driving to Exeter, my mom, brother, Jackie, her mom, her coach, and I piled into their minivan and were off the Boston Logan. Six and a half hours later, we landed in San Diego and were promptly met by Footlocker representatives and bused over to the Del Coronado hotel where we are staying.

It’s a beautiful hotel and right on the beach. I’m in a room with a guy named Jacob McLeod from Georgia. After the Northeast boys were all there, Noah Affolder, who went last year, showed us around the hotel and beach and took us to see the surrounding area. As we were walking around, we ran into Drew Hunter eating outside at a Mexican restaurant. Noah knows him, so we stopped and talked for a whbrenda-martinez-and-boris-berianile. It was cool to hear what he’s been up to.

After this, all of the Northeast guys went out for an easy 30 minute run together, and then picked up our sweet new uniforms and the rest of our New Balance gear. The Northeast boys have already started to bond and it’s cool to have some new fast friends. After a quick trip to the beach, we headed to dinner where we designed our own t-shirts with Boris Berian, Brenda Martinez, Molly Huddle, Kim Conley, Meb and many others. I am looking forward to a great day tomorrow!
