The Nashua North Invitational ran smoothly despite mother nature not cooperating bringing heavy rain on and off for most of the meet coupled with a fairly significant headwind down the homestretch which had a substantial impact on the times.  Despite the conditions, many athletes brought their A game and put up some excellent performances.

Nashua North (268 of 1024)On the boys side, the race of the meet might have been the two mile where Jake Winslow of Exeter and Forest Mackenzie of Concord sat on the early leader to finish 1-2.  Winslow scorched a 9:21.05 while Forest rolled to a 9:29.63, both very fast times this early in the season. In the mile Aidan O’Hern of Concord was nipped at the line, but was the top New Hampshire finisher with a time of 4:25.64.  In the 800 Jack Taylor of Winnacunnet doubled back and went sub 2 finishing second in 1:59.89. Davante Mckoy-Sophes of Alvirne took home the 400 meter run in a fast early season time of 50.58.

The sprinters had to deal with slight head win.  Justin Cassidy of Londonderry was the top NH finisher in the 200 in a time of 23.69 and Paul Marchand of Nashua South was the top NH finisher in the 100 with a time of 11.72. Conor Seleny of Pinkerton was the top NH guy in the 110 High’s with a second place finish in 15.50 while teammate Adam Spencer won the 300 Hurdles in 41.10. Pinkerton took home the 4×100 title in 44.11, Nashua North was second in the 4×400 in 3:32.48, and Pinkerton was second in the 4×800 in 8:12.10.

In the field events Jake Langevin of Exeter was the top NH guy in the High jump with a clearance of 6’2”.  Chris Mood of Portsmouth fought off the rain to win the boys pole vault clearing 11’6”. Marchand of South was the top NH guy in the long jump with a distance of 19’9.5”.  Jaron Herrell of Pinkerton won the triple Jump with a distance of 41’5”. The throwers had to deal with muddy conditions in the javelin and a wet circle. Jared Dyer of Merrimack won both the shot and the discus with distances of 46’1” in the shot and 128’0” in the disc.  Brendon Frost of Nashua South won the Javelin with a throw of 141’9”.Nashua North (436 of 1024)

Georgia Jones of Souhegan edged out her sister in the 800 meter run with a winning time of 2:25.43. Mikayla Randall of Keene dominated the mile with a winning time of 5:17.56 and Chloe Trudell of Souhegan won the 2 mile in a time of 11:13.13.

Pinkerton won the 4×100 in 51.42, Winnacunnet held of Portsmouth to win the 4×400 in 4:11.13, and Nashua South finished second in the 4×800 in 10:20.72.

Nashua North (231 of 1024)In the field events, freshmen star Olivia Mazerolle was right at home in the high jump winning with a clearance of 5’2”.  Taylor Nydam of Winnacunnet won the pole vault with a height of 9’0”. Eli Omahem of Portsmouth won the long jump with a leap of 15’8.5”.  Sarah St. Pierre of Nashua North won the triple jump with a distance of 33’5.75”. Victoria Conrad had what I believe was a lifetime best throw in the shot despite the conditions with a winning distance of 39’5.5”.  Robyn Krafft of Milford won the discus with a throw of 111’7”. Aliana Mercado of Nashua North won the javelin on her home runway with a throw of 103’3”.

Thank you to Nashua North for hosting another great invitational, Lancertiming for another job well done, and more importantly any parent of spectator that was brave enough to stand in the rain for a few hours and watch the athletes compete.
