Congratulations to Kearsarge’s Mya Dube who won NH’s only New England title in the 1600 (4:55.03) at this past weekend’s 2019 New England Track and Field Championships. The 1600 may have been NH’s best event as Dube battled BG’s Caroline Fischer, who had made a strong move with 700 meters to go and would eventually end up second in 4:56.93. Granite State going 1-2 in an event is always a good thing!
The Shot Put was the other event where the Granite State certainly made their presence known as North’s Victoria Conrad launched one 41’6″ to place 2nd while MOC Champ Mady Buchalski (St. Thomas) placed fourth with a toss of 40’2.5″.
State record holder, Concord’s Grace Devanny ran to a gutsy second place in the 400 with a 56.29 clocking. Oyster River’s dominant 4×100 capped their phenomenal season with a 3rd place finish stopping the clock at 49.20.
Alvirne’s Skyler Bomba soared over 10’9″ to place 5th in the Pole Vault while Hanover’s Anna Stafford tied for the 
6th slot clearing 10’3″.
Also making the podium was New Englands veteran Katya Rojco (Salem), who placed 6th in the High Hurdles as did West’s Corinne Robitaille in the 800 (2:15.74). Souhegan’s Chloe Trudel also placed 6th to earn a medal in the 3200 rolling to a 10:55.22.
It was tough sledding on the boys side, but Pinkerton’s Adam Spencer arguably had the best day as he twice stepped to the podium claiming 4th place in both hurdle events (14.80 & 39.40). His teammate Conor Seleny was 6th in the 300 Hurdles in 39.69. Matter of fact, NH 300 hurdlers crowded the top 10 as Spaulding Adrian Sutton and Pelham’s John Elie placed 7th and 9th overall.
Keene’s 4×8 began the day on the track as they placed 5th in a blazing 7:51.57. Also placing 5th and racing just as gutsy was Campbell’s Jeffrey Allen in the 1600 in 4:20.36 while Jack Parker (White Mountains) placed 5th in the High Jump clearing 6’3″.
