PICS!!

The first of the rivalry races which will certainly be showcased this season, Oyster River and Coe-Brown renewed their Route 4 friendly rivalry at beautiful DeMeritt Hill Farm in Lee, NH.  Blue skies, cool temps certainly helped the harriers tackle the most demanding course in NH.  Following COVID protocols, all wore masks when not running and observed the appropriate social distance.  Wave starts were employed with no chute at the finish line and the meet was pulled off wonderfully by the Oyster River and DeMeritt Hill Farm communities.  Fields were stretched out immediately.

The girls began the day.  Coe-Brown’s Addison Cox took the lead immediately and never was challenged finishing the grinder of a course in 19:50 solo.  To give some perspective Souhegan’s Chloe Trudel won the Bobcat last year in 19:41.  The Bears took the next four places as Sheldyn Fisher, Mallory Taylor, Tessa Millette, and Bella Lemay all finished within 15 seconds of each other (21:32 to 21:47).  Oyster River was led by Tessa Brown’s 6th place finish (22:22).  Also scoring for the Bobcats were Marlee Yoder, Emma Hall, Carly Anderson and Abby Dean.

On the boys, the top Division 2 teams over the past 10 years predictably started together as the first wave of each team’s top 7 ran the first half mile together.  Over the second mile, CBNA’s Luke Tkaczyk and Aidan Cox pressed the pace and created space.  They would go on to go under the course record finishing in a dead heat both clocking a 16:23, with Tkaczyk winning with the lean.  Similar to the girls team, Coe-Brown’s next four of Lars Hogne, Logan Mihelich, Wyatt Mackey and Carter Sylvester  finished within 13 seconds of one another 17:01 to 17:14.  Oyster River’s Andy O’Brien was right there in 17:18 as he once again led Oyster River.  Coe-Brown’s freshmen Jamie Lano placed 8th in 17:50.  Taking the next 4 spots and also scoring for Oyster River were Owen Fleischer, Dillon Labonte, Henry Hagan, and Keane Swiesz.

All would like to thank both schools for supporting cross country and sports for that manner.  Obviously a huge thanks to DeMeritt Hill Farm for offering the use of their beautiful farm as home of Oyster River Cross Country!!!
