The Clipper Relays is back! Thank you Portsmouth High School and Speed Sport Timing for putting on the 2022 edition. I must say that is one of the warmer Clipper Relay meets in recent memory. The good weather and good cross-divisional competition led to some excellent performances on the track and in the field events.
The Coe-Brown Boys and Girls flexed some D2 muscle and took home the team titles at the 2022 Clipper Relays. D1 power Pinkerton Academy was runner-up on both sides.
Boys Highlights
- What a battle in the 4×100! Pinkerton and Portsmouth were neck and neck pretty much the whole way around the track. It was Pinkerton getting the win in 43.50 to Portsmouth 43.76.
- Pinkerton backed up that performance with a sweep in the sprints by winning the 4×200.
- Portsmouth dropped a New Hampshire best 3:32.54 in the 4×400 for a 6-second victory!
- Londonderry, behind a strong anchor leg, took down the 4×800 in a time of 8:21.70 over Windham (8:26.29).
- Coe-Brown won the non-traditional steeplechase (without a water barrier) in a time of 8:02.14.
- Dover High School took down the DMR with a strong 1600 anchor from Tyler Sheedy.
- Winnacunnet prevailed in the 110 shuttle hurdles.
- Nashua South took the win in the high jump relay behind a top performance from Sami Witta clearing 5’10”
- Coe-Brown got the win in the pole vault relay, but the performance of the meet might have been Samuel Epstein of Merrimack clearing 14 feet for the top mark.
- Milford won the long jump relay with the only team to have three boys over 18 feet.
- Coe-Brown won the triple jump relay, but it was Jack Sullivan of Nashua North with the top mark of 41’5.25”. He also had the top mark in the long jump.
- Caden Zalenski of Milford had to longest throw in both the discus (148’4”) and shot (50’6.25”) but it was Nashua North sweeping in both events behind a strong runner-up position from Jack Washam and 1-3 depth.
- Portsmouth on their home turf secured the win in the Javelin throw. Aiden Kelley of Manchester Central got the top mark with a throw of 152’6”
Girls Highlights
- Nashua South got a blazing anchor leg from Soraya Ross to go by Pinkerton Academy and get the win with a time of 49.75.
- Pinkerton got revenge in the 4×200 getting the win and establishing a new meet record of 1:46.54.
- Exeter took down the 4×400 meter relay with a state-best 4:12.16.
- Winnacunnet won the 4×800 in the last 5 meters with a strong kick from Kylee Quinlin in a time of 10:00.17 over Pinkerton 10:00.98.
- Coe-Brown completed the steeple sweep by winning the girl’s race in a time of 10:05.79.
- Dover completed a boys and girls sweep of their own in the DMR with a dominant 20-second win in 13.31.91.
- Windham took down the shuttle hurdles with an easy 3-second win over runner-up Coe-Brown.
- Nashua South won the team title in the high jump but it was Zoe Arakelian of Portsmouth with the top jump of 5’4”.
- Coe-Brown won the pole vault relay behind a 9’6” effort of Makena Lee.
- Exeter won the girl’s Long Jump relay behind a state-leading 17’11.25” jump of Sydney Lavelle.
- Pinkerton won the triple jump relay behind Madison Connors new D1 best 34’6”.
- Pinkerton also won the shot put relay, but it was Natalie Purgess of Nashua North with the top mark of 35’. This event featured the top three throwers in D1.
- Pinkerton also won the discus relay behind state best Briana Danis with a throw of 123’.
- Portsmouth completed the sweep in the Javelin with three girls over 80’. It was Novak of Nashua North getting the win with a toss of 110’10”.
