MEET INFORMATION

Welcome back to the Bobcat Invitational!  After its successful inaugural year in 2019, it returns after a 2 year hiatus (we all know why). Below is what to watch for in given events.

BBear2022--665Sprints & Hurdles

The girls 100 looks a bit up for grabs between Kingswood’s Lauren MacPhee, Newmarket’s Gabrielle Madore and Spaulding’s Hope Silveira.  However in the 200, Oyster River’s Charlotte Cousins is the heavy favorite with a seed time over 2 seconds up on the field.  Cousins is also the odd’s on to take the High Hurdles as she has a 3 second cushion there.  Kingswood’s MacPhee has a similar cushion in the 300 Hurdles.

On the boys side, the 100 will be legit as Portsmouth Christian’s Tim Kelm, Oyster River’s Ty Dorrow, and Bow’s Jurgen Stich will be squaring off.  Dorrow returns as the top seed in the 200 but only by a hair as Conant superstar Ethan Vitello is only .01 behind on paper.  Portsmouth’s Ian Ripperger is a healthy favorite in the High Hurdles while his teammate Jake Lovern will be trying to catch top seed Austin Polkonen (Conant) in the 300 Hurdles.

Middle Distance & Distance

Newmarket has cornered the market in the girls 400 with Isabel Pentony and Alana Hagen thBBear2022--268e top 2 seeds.  PCA star Brianna Malone is the overwhelming favorite in the 800 with a 2:16.62 seed.

Hesitate to call the 400 middle distance especially when Oyster River’s Dorrow is the top seed by nearly 2 seconds sitting at 50.66.  Could we see our first sub 50 of the season?? Watch for another showdown in the 800 as Oyster River teammates Dillon Labonte and Keane Swiesz are top seeds with the same time.

Bow teammates Maya Brochu and Susanna Zahn are the top 2 seeds in the 1600 but watch for Oyster River freshman Haley Kavanaugh to break that up.  Brochu and Zahn are also the top 2 seeds in the 3200.

Portsmouth’s Avery Crowell headlines the boys 1600.  Watch for PCA’s Jonas Teeter to challenge.  Goffstown’s Alexander Gagnon is the top seed in the 3200.

Jumps & ThrowsBBear2022--607

Goffstown’s Penelope Annis and Newmarket’s Kaitlyn Bussell are top seeds in the High Jump while Spaulding’s Averie Marcotte is tops in the pole vaults. On the boys side, Conant’s Ben Sawyer and Oyster River’s Daniel Doherty are top seeds at 6’4″ in the High Jump.  Doherty’s teammate Ethan Bessette is top seed in the Pole Vault.

Portsmouth’s Mariam Nada is top seed in the Long Jump with Spaulding’s Hope Silveira hoping to close the distance on her.  Somersworth’s Frace Bronkema is tops in the Triple.  On the boys’ side Conant’s Sawyer and Vitello are the top seeds in the long jump with Oyster River’s Jeremiah Nicols the other 20 foot long jumper in the field. Vitello has a shot to be a triple crown winnah as he is also top seed in the Triple.

Bow’s Sierra Mason is top seed in the shot put while Somerworth’s Emmy Gaisor is tops in the Discus.  Portsmouth’s Margaret Montplaisir is tops in the Javelin by nearly 10 feet.  On the boys side, Goffstown Antonio Kapos is the top seed in the Shot with a 46’9.5″ mark, while his teammate Peyton Strickland has an impressive 171’+ toss in the Discus.  Kingswood’s Caleb Russo has a nice cushion in the Javelin as the top seed with a 151’11” mark.
