Division 1
Lancer Timing’s D1 Girls Results
Unlike last year’s ultra close team meet which saw 3 teams separated by a mere 14 points, this year there was a decisive winner. Identical to 2021, Cooperative Middle School took the title with 54 points as they placed 3 in the top 10 and all 5 scorers in the top 20. Eli Cross placed 3rd in 12:59, Jillian Bergeron 5th in 13:17, Isabelle Bremer was 7th in 13:27 while teammates Delaney Guy and Madeline Ralabate placed 19th and 20th respectively. Host school, Londonderry Middle earned runner-up honors with 85 points and was led by the efforts of Anna Laufersweiler’s 2nd and Gemma Murray’s 6th place finishes. Woodbury Middle School completed the podium and was led by new state champ, 6th grader, Naomi Ebhaleme who broke the tape in 12:50. Her teammate Shae O’Loughlin also earned top 10 honors placing 8th in 13:30.
Other individuals not previously mentioned who medaled in the top 10 included Rosalie Neveu who placed 4th in 13:14. Rundlett’s Mahalie Burdette placed 9th in 13:31 while Ross A. Lurgio’s Julia Malnar rounded out the top 10 in 13:43.
Lancer Timing’s D1 Boys Results
The boys contest was a bit closer as the top 2 teams were separated by just 6 points. In a bit of a seesaw battle Woodbury Middle School eventually sealed the deal over Rundlett by placing their 5 scorers in the top 21 to score 75 points. While Rundlett certainly boasted 2 top 10 finishers in Spencer Clemans (3rd, 11:50) and Ian Mamos (8th, 11:57), Woodbury countered with 6th place finisher Ryan Lopez-Whalen and then 13th, 17th, 18th and 21st positions courtesy of Danny Snyder, Scott Woodring, Alexander St. Laurent, and Asher Chisholm to become state champs.
Rundlett secured the runner-up with Conor Fennessy (15th), Maximilano Jimenez-Calderon (24th) and Sebastian Telus (32nd). Led by Mason Hernandez (5th), Samuel Erdtmann (9th) and Ian Millis (11th), Londonderry Middle School completed the podium with 94 points.
Individually, last year’s runner-up became this year’s champ as Ross A. Lurgio’s Jack Mortimer won with an 11:15 performance. Other athletes not previously mentioned who also medaled in the top 10 include Merrimack’s William Moores who placed 2nd, Cooperative Middle’s Tyler Ream (4th), McLaughlin Middle’s Will Sloper (7th), and Merrimack’s Trevor Shorette (10th).
Division 2
Lancer Timing’s D2 Girls Results
Well Amherst Middle School has done it again. They are D2 state champs once again scoring only 32 points, but Oyster River Middle School certainly made them sweat as the margin of victory was a slim 6 points. In true Amherst fashion, they took the top 2 positions and placed 4 in the top 10 and all 7 in the top 21. ORMS also placed 4 in the top 10 and 5 in the top 14.
Amherst’s Samantha Swanbon and Bridget Hillwent 1-2 for the second consecutive year running 12:42 and 12:58 respectively. ORMS countered with Madelyn Cook and Eleanora Gelsey-Drees placing 5th and 6th. However, Amherst’s Brynn Siska and Annabelle Moriarity took 7th and 8th to ORMS’s Rina Han and Olivia Kavanagh’s 9th and 10th. It simply doesn’t get much closer than this. And even though ORMS got their 5th runner, Elizabeth Carty (14th) in before Amherst’s Finley Llewellyn (18th), the math worked in the reigning champs favor. Congrats to both teams. Laconia Middle would complete the podium with 98 points.
Completing the report on the top 10 medalists, Milford Middle’s Jaylyn Paul placed 3rd in 13:06 and Pennichuk’s Claire Hathaway-Rube placed 4th.
Lancer Timing’s D2 Boys Results
The Amherst Middle School boys made it a sweep as they easily took the individual and team titles placing all 5 scorers in the top 15. Rhys Cunningham took the individual win over Portmouth Middle’s Austin Corbett 11:23 to 11:31. Jonas Guarrera also made the top 10 placing 6th in 12:13, but it was Amherst’s 3-4-5 pack of Thomas Arnoldy, Ryan Quinn, and Jack Preston, who cemented the dominating team victory by placing within 3 seconds of one another in 13th-15th positions.
Led by Ben Groves’s 5th place finish, Hanover placed 2nd with 86 points while 3rd place Hollis Brookline had 2 in the top 10 with Devin Gomes (3rd) and William Scott (10th). Also garnering top 10 individual honors were Hampton Academy’s Ethan Roy (3rd) and the Kennett triumverate of Tucker Laughland, Malcom DAvenport, and Cadence Kenney who placed 7th -9th respectively.
Congrats to all! This past weekend reminds us all of the excitement of a true state championship event! High schools are next!
