Each week we will be highlighting one male and female athlete who stood out with their cumulative performances of the week and/or had one jaw-dropping pop of a mark.
As with Brianna Malone, yes we have been waiting for this one as well. After what Aidan Cox did this past weekend, we can no longer put this off. Cox dropped a couple bombs at BU’s Terrier Classic. Beginning with Friday in the 3k. After the field went through the mile in 4:25, Cox took the lead and pushed the pace racing to the end posting a blistering PR of 8:16 (that’s an 8:54 converted 3200 meters…indoors!). This time is #3 in the US. Cox then returned with teammates Tyler Tkaczyk, Jamie Lano and Matthew Corriveau the next day to compete in the Distance Medley Relay. Coming off a time of 10:34 at Dartmouth Relays where Cox, Lano and Tkaczyk were doubling back from the mile an hour or so earlier, Coe-Brown ran a blistering 10:12 anchored by Cox’s 4:12 mile. This is also good enough to be the #3 time in the US. His mile converts roughly to a 3:55 in the 1500. Looking forward to the state championships, if Cox opts to race either the 3k or 1500 or both, the state records currently are at 8:39 and 3:57. Congrats to Aidan Cox, this week’s HOKA Male Athlete of the Week!
