New Balance Indoor Nationals! In Boston this Weekend!

2023 Indoor NEs-028When considering a meet like the New Balance Indoor Nationals, it is quite difficult to give predictions of place and even if an athlete is participating in which events.  Lists are constantly changing.  From accepted entries to preliminary start lists to the meet schedule, meet directors and organizers are constantly tweaking them to ensure full fields and an efficient event.  The difficulty level is magnified when dealing with athletes and people from all across the country. So, we will give you the links to access information on your own, and mention a few names who are listed as participating.  Bottom line, this is NATIONALS!  The best in the country and we have Granite Staters ready to mix it up!!!

The coolest aspect this year has to be the proximity of one of the national meets in that New Balance Indoor Nationals are taking place in Boston at the state-of-the-art facility, the TRACK at New Balance.  This particular national meet has “blown up” in regards to participation numbers especially from New England!  Why not?  To actually have a national championship held in your backyard is a gift not experienced by New England scholastics in quite some time.  Enjoy it!  Let’s go!!!

Names involved this weekend include our recently crowned New England Champions in Londonderry’s Sean Clegg and CBNA’s Aidan2023 Indoor NEs-311 Cox.  Clegg is listed in the 400 and 800 meter Championship Divisions.  400 Prelims begin Friday morning and 800 is held Saturday evening.  Joining Clegg in the open 400 is D2 600 Champ, CBNA’s Gavin Demas.  Joining Clegg in the open 800 will be Bedford’s All-New England Jacob Redman as well as D2 1k champ CBNA’s Jamie Lano and Portsmouth’s Jake Haley.

Cox will begin his weekend as the mile leg on Coe-Brown’s (Black Bear Track Club) DMR with teammates Lano, Demas and Tyler Tkaczyk who will be leading off.  The Bears find themselves in the fastest heat of 12 with hopes of gaining All-American status by placing in the top 6.  With a top 4 time of 10:12 posted earlier this year, the Bears find themselves in the thick of things for sure.  Cox comes back the next day in the 5000 meter Championship heat.  He does have experience in this distance on the track as he was an All-American as a 2023 Indoor NEs-359sophomore at Nike Outdoor Nationals where he posted a time of 14:35.  Also in a Championship 5000 is OR’s Mackenzie Cook.

All-New England Hanover’s Ian Solberg is competing in the High Jump.  All-New England Pinkerton’s Jordan Wheaton is in the Hurdles and High Jump while also All-New England, Bedford’s Annika Scott is in the Long Jump.  Dover’s All New Englander Anique Poulin in the 600 is competing in the 400 Championship.   D2 State Champ, PCA’s Brianna Malone is slated to compete in the 800 meters and 1 mile on Sunday.

Please give shout-outs to those competing this weekend below in the comments!  Let’s Go NH!
