On a cool brisk April day, Sanborn welcomed 22 teams and 500 athletes to their 2nd Annual Invitational. Although the weather was slightly blah, that did not stop the athletes from competing hard and putting forth great performances. The theme of the day seemed to still be meet records but also D3 teams making their presence known for sure!
Double Winnahs
Kennett’s Aida Wheat was certainly one of the more dominant figures on the day as she won both the 100 (12.76) and 200 (27.01). She was untested and
broke the meet record in the 100. Oyster River’s Erin Carty swept the Hurdles events posting a 16.42 in the Highs and dropping a time of 47.74 to blitz the meet record in the 300 Hurdles. She pulled Pelham’s Chloe Crear, who placed second also under the meet record.
An odd and impressive double winner on the day has to be Gilford’s Isaiah Reese, who not only took the 200 in 22.93, but also won the Javelin by 20 feet with a throw of 164’11. Conant’s Ben Sawyer won the Long Jump (20’9.5″) as expected but by only 4 inches or so over Trinity’s Rere Edokpolo. This was a meet record, but Sawyer went to the track next to win the 300 Hurdles also in a meet record time of 41.74. Of note, Gilford took the next two places with both Nicholas Haddocks and Aidan Malek both sneaking under the former meet record. Their teammate Patrick Gandini had an impressive day picking up wins in the 1600 (4:26.25) and the 800 in meet record time of 2:00.11.
More Meet Records!
There were a total of 15 meet records set yesterday, so in addition to the ones previously mentioned, on the field Oyster River’s Daniel Doherty won the HJ in 6’3″. Coe-Brown’s Zach Bistany won the Discus with a chuck of 152’0″ with Leb’s Tanner Ames also under the meet record of 130’10”.
Back to the track, Plymouth’s Addison Englund led the day off with a meet record in the 3200 running a very smart, even paced race to win in 11:58.68. 
Hopkinton’s Hannah Bennett was 2nd also under meet record time in 12:09.84. In the girls mile, Oyster River tandem Mackenzie Cook and Haley Kavanagh both under meet record with times of 5:16.64 and 5:17.32 respectively.
Monadnock’s Gavin Lombara and Plymouth’s Cole Ahern both broke the meet record with Lombara outleaning Ahern 16.35 to 16.39. Returning to middle distance Newmarket’s Alanna Hagen and Oyster River’s Kavanagh had quite the battle which produced both times under the previous meet record. Hagen won in 2:22.75 to Kavanagh’s 2:23.92.
2nd in the discus, Ames would get a meet record of his own winning the Shot Put with a mark of 47’10.5″. Of note discus winner Bistany was second.
The relays saw a handful of meet records as well. The Pembroke girls broke the meet record in the 4×100 with a 54.11; however, the boys 4×100 saw 4 teams go under the former record as Trinity won in 45.09, Bishop Brady was 2nd in 45.26, Pelham and West were 3rd and 4th. The girls 4×400 was similar as Oyster River rolled to the win and new meet record of 4:24.42. Both Kearsarge and Newmarket had a battle to both clock 4:28 and change. The boys 4×400 was won by Coe-Brown in a meet record of 3:36.86.
Other Standout Performances
On the boys’ side, Bishop Brady’s Josh Gentchos (11.53) outleaned Trinity’s Nehemiah Oyaronbi (11.58). West’s Edwen Rodriguez was a close third in 11.79. Oyster River’s Ty Dorow also had a nice day on the job as he won the 400 and placed 2nd in the 200. The girls’ 400 saw a great battle between the top 3 with Newmarket’s Allison Burke winning in 63.51 to CBNA’s Anushka Chavda’s 63.74 and Hopkinton’s Shaylee Murdough’s 63.84.
