Windy conditions Friday afternoon may have affected the times on the track, but the competition at the Seacoast Championships was as good as ever. The
Coe-Brown boys showed why they may be the best team in the state across all divisions flexing their superior distance talent with 1st place finishes in both the 1600m and 3200m, 1-2-3 in the discus, and scoring in 13 or 17 events. Their 128 points was 50 ahead of runner-up Portsmouth.
Brady Ash of Sanborn Regional High School was the boys track performer of the meet with a win in the 400 meters (51.54), and 2nd in the 200m by .004 seconds in (23.39), he also ran on Sanborns 4×100 and 4×400 relay squads.
Zachary Bistany of Coe-Brown was the field performer of the meet by winning the discus and placing second in the shot put.
Other boy’s highlights included Tim Kelm of Portsmouth Christian winning the 100-200 combo, Jaime Lano of Coe-Brown running 1:57 for the win in the 800m, Gavin Demas Of Coe-Brown running 4:24 in the 1600m, Daniel Doherty IV of Oyster River clearing 6’1” in the high jump, and Wyatt Patterson of Winnacunnet breaking the meet record and school record in the pole vault clearing 13’10”!
On the girls side is was a familiar squad at the top of the podium, the Exeter Blue Hawks. Exeter secured their 5th straight Seacoast Championship meet in dominating fashion. They scored in 13 of 17 events. Their 126 points was 30 points clear of runner-up Coe-Brown.
Field Performer of the meet was Rachel Poulin of Exeter who won the javelin (115’0”) and second in the Long jump (14’9.25”). She also won the 100 hurdles 16.6.
Track Performer of the Meet was sophomore sensation Demaiyah Woods of Dover. Woods won the 200meters was 4th in the 100 meter and ran a leg on the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relay teams.
Other notable performances from the girls side included Charlotte Beaudoin of Timberlane in the 400m (1:00.48), Brianna Malone of PCA in the 800m (2:15.29), Haley Kavanagh of Oyster River in the 1600m (5:13.94), Mackenzie Cook of Oyster River (11:20.58), Hannah Drew of Spaulding tied the meet record in the HJ (5’1”), and Josephine Malloy of Coe-Brown in the triple jump (33’6.75”).
