Final celebration of the Division Meets we find 2 familiar names as the Division 2 HOKA Athletes of the Week. Both won 2 individual events with one of them achieving this for the 2nd consecutive year and the other setting two Division 2 State Records.
Kennett’s Aida Wheat successfully defended both of her 2022 D2 State titles in the 100 and 200. She is certainly the D2 queen of sprinting against a very talented and great field of competitors. She won the 100 in 12.44 and won the 200 in 25.23. She did the same thing in 2022. She once again, saved her best for last as she set personal records in both! Running her best at kjust the right time.
After having to end his season after the 2022 D2 State Championships, Aidan Cox returned to the event in grand style winning both the 1600 and 3200 in solo efforts. He won the 1600 taking the lead immediately and crossing the line in a new D2 State Record of 4:12.22. After having some company the first few laps in the 3200, going through the halfway mark in 4:30, Aidan negative split the remainder of the distance closing in 61 to run a new D2 State Record of 8:57.63. Fun fact, he broke his own record in the 3200. He ran 9:17 his sophomore year.
Congrats to Kennett’s Aida Wheat and CBNA’s Aidan Cox, this week’s D2 Championship HOKA Athletes of the Week.
