Congratulations to both Madeleine Lane of Hopkinton XC and Jamie Lano of CBNA XC as they are this week’s HOKA Athletes of the Week! Both competing on the tough, unforgiving rolling course on the campus of Coe-Brown, put in 2 incredible performances. Beginning with Hopkinton’s Madeleine Lane, who has impressed many with her freshman campaign and most recently placed an impressive 4th at the ultra-competitive Black Bear Invitational behind the likes of Lea Perreard and Mackenzie Cook in 19:15. In the process, she led her team to 8th overall but top D3 school. Prior to this week, she placed another impressive 5th at Manchester Invitational in 18:57 and has been running at a high level this entire season.
Entering this past weekend, the Black Bear Invitational was dubbed possibly as Manchester Invitational Part 2 as US #2 Byron Grevious was set to hold off Mr. 15:12 Tam Gavenas rekindling their very friendly rivalry. However, CBNA’s Jamie Lano was the only one of the field to daringly to go along for the ride as they went out in 5:03 and then 10:02 through 2 miles over the not-so-fast CBNA course. Lano was able to keep contact through close to 2.5 miles to cross in 16:04, a close to 30 second improvement over last year at the same meet. That’s how one makes a jump.
Congratulations to both Madeleine Lane and Jamie Lano, this week’s HOKA Athletes of the Week!
