Week #2 in the books! Competition at both Plymouth State and UNH was fierce for December as the WTL was certainly on display! What a tribute to the WTL! UNH Meets Shout Outs!
Girls
- NH Sprint Queen Kennett’s Aida Wheat opened her season with a W in the dash in 7.42, but South’s Nyah Musa was hot on her heels crossing in 7.44!
- Although in separate sessions, Kingswood’s Kylie Rapoza and Bedford’s Mikita Barry ran impressive times of 43.68 and 43.42 respectively on UNH’s short track in the 300.
- Bedford’s Samantha Ducharme also ran fast for the 160m oval in the 600 clocking a 1:45.32 in the 600, good enough for 3rd in D1.
- North’s Jhanelle Thomas was a double winner on the day at the PM session as she won the Dash and the Hurdles. In both cases she had to lean for the win. She and Bedford’s Anika Scott had the battle in the Hurdles with Thomas eeking out the win in 8.68 to Scott’s 8.72. In the Dash, Thomas held off Salem’s Fareedah Adigun 7.58 to 7.59!
- Scott also won the long jump with a leap of 16’5″, good for #2 in D1.
- Bedford’s Maggie Foxx launched a D1 leading 33’03.75″ shot!
Boys
- Windham’s Kevin Brooks was a double winner in the PM session comfortably winning the Dash in 6.73 and the 300 meters in 37.14.
- Prior to Brooks in the PM, Alvirne’s Shane Plumley dropped a 37.46 300 meter time good for #3 in D1.
- Bedford’s Jared Bekkering dropped the fastest time in the state in the 600 with a 1:27.05
- Bekkering’s teammate, Jacob Redman had an impressive double, beginning with placing 2nd in the 300 with a 39.41 only to win the 1500 in the next event in 4:15.40. Impressive considering the double and the short track!
- Bedford seems to be loaded this year with studs as Christopher Chong did what he usually does, win the Hurdles in 8.08.
- North’s Darius Smith unleashed a bomb of a toss in the Shot Put with a state leading 51′.5″
Plymouth State Meet Shout-Outs
Girls
- Central’s Harriet Barber was the double sprint winner in the PM session with a 7.48 Dash and a blazing 41.44 in the 300 meters.
- Another familiar name in the AM session won the Dash as Milford’s Keely Giordano; however, a new name has surfaced in the 300 in Division 2. Gilford’s Macy Sawyer won the 300 in 43.55, tops in D2.
- Pelham’s Reese Nicolosi won the AM session Hurdles in 9.32 good for #3 in D2.
- Newport’s Maddox Lovely won the PM session in the Hurdles. Placing second was Concord’s Morgan Doherty who also won the Long Jump with a leap of 16’3.5″.
- Goffstown’s Kara Tschida won the AM session 1k in 3:15.00 good for 2nd in D2.
- Also in the AM session, Kearsarge’s Molly Ellison made a statement with a solo 1500 meters in 5:13.50, tops in D2 by a good 12 seconds.
- Meanwhile, Pinkerton’s Contessa Silva and Isabelle Groulx went 1-2 in the PM session 3000 meters in 10:47.35 and 10:49.14 good for the #2 and #3 ranks in D1.
- Mascoma Valley’s Georgia Kondi tossed a D2 leading 33’0″.
- Manchester West’s Eshaya Lauder jumped to a D2 leading 16’10”.
Boys
- Trinity’s Nehemiah Oyaronbi won the Dash in the PM session in 6.61 good for the 2nd rank in D2. Of note, Pinkerton’s Matthew Morrison was second in 6.79 but came back to win the Hurdles in 8.06 which gives him the top 2 times in D1. Brady’s Joshua Gentchos won the AM Dash in 6.69.
- The hurdles in both sessions are saw 1 and 2 in D2. Pelham’s Colby Crear broke the tape in 8.25 in the AM session while Monadnock’s Gavin Lombara was 2nd in 8.21.
- Bow’s Kody McCranie won the AM session 300 meters in 37.86, this is good for #2 in D2.
- MV’s Mychal Reynolds won the 600 meters in 1:28.82 taking over the top spot in D2.
- The AM 1000 meters saw the top times posted for both D1 and D2. Winnacunnet’s Ryan Zumbach won by half a step over Bow’s Alden Betterley 2:41.11 to 2:41.80.
- BG’s Matthew Giardina rolled to a state leading 4:13.49 rust buster. Watch Monadnock’s Peyton Joslin, who seems to be trending! The sophomore was second in this race in 4:20.80. He also battled to the end last week at Dartmouth in the 3k posting a 9:14.
- Also off to a great start and not so under the radar is Concord’s Josiah Conley who rolled to a state leading 8:58 in the PM session. This is currently tops in the state.
- Couple more long jumpers in the 20’+ marks as Chase Burris of Memorial won the PM session with a 20’2.75″ leap to Pinkerton’s Camren Dillon’s 20’2″.
