What to Watch For! 2024 Footlocker Northeast

Meet Information

Footlocker Northeast is at Franklin Park in Boston for the 2nd year tomorrow. For those not familiar, Foot Locker is the older sibling of the national meets and designed for individuals, no teams. In the ‘Championship’ races, athletes from the northeast (DE, DC, PA, NJ, NY and New England) hope to qualify for a trip to the national championship in San Diego, California by placing in the top 10. So with 4 regions, that is a pretty select group of only 40 girls and 40 boys who qualify from across the country.

Being so close to home, NH has its fair share of competitors. NH girls competing in the Championship include Pinkerton’s Sookie Folsom, Hopkinton’s Maisie Emerson, , as well as Mascenic’s Kaitlin and Erin O’Shea.

The boys competing for a chance to go to San Diego include BG’s Matthew Giardina, Keene’s Sullivan Sturtz, Con-Val’s Will Simard, Milford’s Logan Korthals and Monadnock’s Peyton Joslyn. Giardina will be attempting to qualify for his 2nd nationals as he successfully made it to Nike Cross Nationals by virtue of his 7th place finish at Nike Cross Northeast Regional last week in NY. Of course Sturtz has a legit shot as well to qualify. He had a great experience last year here, and has only gotten faster while adding the D1 title to his resume. Simard has to be in the sleeper category for this one, so don’t be surprised if he is in the front pack as well.

This is a rather large event with youth races as well as frosh/soph and junior/senior races, so good luck to all from the Granite State competing tomorrow morning!
