Its back! Nike Cross Nationals is back and with it a trio of NH runners are competing by virtue of their top 5 finishes at Nike Cross Regionals last weekend. Hopkinton’s Maddy Lane, Bishop Guertin’s Matthew Giardina, and Oyster River’s Haley Kavanagh (for the 2nd consecutive year) will be representing the Granite State when they toe the line beginning with the girls at 1:05pm EST on Saturday. Giardina will be rolling with the boys at 2:35pm EST. Above is the link to the free webcast, so tune in and support! The trio are already in Oregon, so please check out our Instagram (@nhxctf) to see up to date posts and short videos chronicling their time there. They experienced a running tour of Nike World Headquarters on Thursday followed by course tours today (Friday). Of course the race is Saturday and how will the three fare? Keep in mind, these 3 have each won state titles this year. Lane was the D3 NH State Champion, Kavanagh the D2 NH State Champion while Giardina was the NH State Champ by winning the Meet of Champions. All were All-New England at Wickham Park, which is the closest thing they will experience at NXN regarding density of cross country race. However, we are sure Kavanagh will attest to the fact there is nothing like Nike Cross Nationals. The best teams and individuals in the nation competing on the same, usually soft, Glendoveer Golf Course! Last year was an incredibly saturated affair, the muddiest race perhaps in NXN history. Tomorrow’s forecast does call for a bit of rain, but that is fairly normal for NXN in Oregon!
