Support Thomas Cantara!

By Shelby Cote

Thomas Cantara has been a Special Olympics athlete since he was seven years old and has found running to be a catalyst to having lost 100 pounds and discovered a talent to run long distances.

Drawing on skills and determination honed through Special Olympics, Thomas has achieved incredible milestones and continues to set bold new goals. In 2023, Thomas took a major leap by joining the Para Athletics Division for the Boston Marathon, where he competed as a professional athlete for the first time in 2024—and won his division.

Now, Thomas has set his sights on an extraordinary challenge: completing the Six Star Journey. By April 2025, he aims to run all six Abbott World Marathon Majors, striving to earn the prestigious Six Star Medal. He’s also determined to set record-breaking times as a Special Olympics athlete in each of these renowned races. Let’s cheer him on as he pursues his dreams and makes history with every step!
