Congratulations to BG’s Matthew Giardina as he has been named the 2024 Gatorade NH XC Player of the Year. Despite a midseason injury, Giardina only improved week to week culminating in his 7th place All American finish at Footlocker Nationals a week after placing 41st at Nike Cross Nationals. Yep, that’s right, with both Northeast Regionals being held on separate weekends for the first time, Giardina took advantage of the opportunity to qualify for BOTH national championships. He then took advantage to race strongly in the mud at Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, OR only to have perhaps the best XC race of his life at Footlocker Nationals in San Diego. This after finishing the NH XC season as D1 runner up, MOC champ and a 6th place finish at New Englands.
