After 2 weeks of ‘preseason’, actual track and field competition begins this week! With that, we thought we would throw out there a quick plug for one of the more popular events of the season, the 2nd Annual NH Distance Festival at Souhegan HS on Friday May 1st. This year, the Distance Festival is presented by Marathon Sports and New Balance, so yes they will have a merch tent and a large presence! As always, we will be there for the livestream, interviews, and snap pics! While the BSR Elite Races have expanded into their own event and moved to a different date (May 15th), NH Distance athletes can expect the same awesome festival as last year’s inaugural event.

Remember only 2 events! The Mile and the 5000 meters! There is no limit to entries in the mile races! Anyone can run and we are expecting many heats as last year. The 5000 does have a standard but the field will certainly be full, and for many this was a major highlight last year (simply great racing)!
As with last year, the top 6 in both the mile and 5000 meters will be awarded with t-shirts. New this year, the winner of each heat will also be awarded with a tee! Also new this year, with BSR Scholastic Races moving to 2 weeks later, the overall winner of each mile (girls and boys) will receive automatic invitational and free entry into the BSR Elite Meet! Awesome all the way around!

So, even if you are not competing, try to make your way to Amherst come Friday May 1st to celebrate great distance racing at a festival under the lights!
Let’s Go!
