Boys Results

Congratulations to all who competed at the BSR Elite Meet at UMass Lowell this past Friday night! Without out a doubt, Marathon Sports, New Balance, Lancer Timing and Bay State Running (and others :)) put on a near perfect event. A meet meant to pit the very best in the region with hope of them pushing each other to greater heights. Honestly, a simple notion. Line up elite talent will lead to incredible racing and outcomes. Goal achieved! And, New Hampshire was superbly represented!

The night began with a 603 victory as Hopkinton’s Maisie Emerson ran an impressively solo to a new personal record of 5:16.83 in the Frosh-Soph Mile. Concord’s Spencer Clemans made is a Granite State sweep as he won a hard fought battle with Hopkinton’s Max Goupil as they both raced impressively to 4:37.68 and 4:38.08 respectively.

The girls seeded 400 was next where Exeter’s Martelle McBride placed th in 59.85. Massachusetts’s Chloe Elder won it in an incredible 54.71. The boys seeded 400 saw CT’s Brenan McCabe won it in 47.18 but the surprise very well was Memorial’s Ewa Edokpolo as he continues his meteoric rise placing 3rd in 48.21. Con-Val’s Ross Stephens was 6th in 48.82. Quite the performance in his own right.

Another surprise had to be Nashua North’s Rosalie Neveu winning the unseeded 800 in 2:14.08, lowering her own school record. She ran bravely at the front almost the entire race. Exeter’s Maggie Poteet was 6th in 2:17.26. Londonderry’s Joshua Twomey continued NH’s great night placing 2nd in the unseeded 800 in a hard charging 1:54.56! He almost stole it at the end! Great race! Pinkerton’s Gabrielle Bedard ran yet another super intelligent race in the unseeded mile placing 3rd in 5:07.30. Then NH placed 2 at the top of the unseeded boys Mile. Londonderry’s Carson Fitzgerald utilized a 61.81 final lap to place 2nd in 4:17.10 while Concord’s Josiah Conley placed 5th in 4:18.04.

The girls seeded 800 saw Bedford’s Mikita Barry truly take on and challenge one of the best in the nation as Mass miler Abigail Hennessy opted for the 800. Hennessy and Amelia Whorton took out the first lap in 63 and change with Barry smartly in their slipstream. As Hennessy made her play for home, it was only Barry who could hang. Hennessy still got the dub crossing in 2:07.15 to Barry’s 2:07.49, but the drama was incredible. Placing 6th, winning the battle of her own, was Exeter’s Izzy Bremer in 2:14.46.

In a similar fashion, Pinkerton’s Joe Gustavson fought valiantly placing 2nd in the boys seeded 800 crossing in1:52.76. Bay State’s Harry Flint would take the win holding off the strong closing Gustavson in 1:52.71! Notably, Portsmouth’s Will Hart and Dover’s Melo Berdecia placed 6th and 7th 1:55.40 and 1:55.62 respectively.

The girls seeded mile was certainly a heater heat which lived up to its billing. CT’s Chase Gilbert and Exeter’s Alexis Paterna simply waged war over the English distance. Familiar friendly foes, Gilbert would need the full mile to take this one crossing in 4:46.80. To her credit Paterna never gave in and made Gilbert earn the win while crossing in 4:47.49, an outdoor personal record. Fresh off her 10:10 3200 at Loucks Game last week, Hopkinton’s Maddy Lane lowered her mile personal record by 4 seconds crossing in 4th in 4:51.03! Exeter’s Brianna Paterna also set another personal record in the mile placing 11th in 4:55.25.

The boys side saw a shocking result in the most positive of ways as Mike Mohoric improved by 10 seconds off a brave move from 600 meters out crossing in 4:05.77! What!?!?! Almost as surprising was Pinkerton’s Jason Robie. Only added to the seeded section this past week, Robie proved he b=more than belonged placing a surprising 4th crossing in 4:10.98; a personal record by 6+ seconds. He truly took down some names! And in one of his fastest miles, after dropping an 8:58 3200 last weekend at Loucks, BG super soph Ethan Fischer crossed in 13th in 4:20.

What a great night!!! Congrats to all who participated!
