Congrats to all on a phenomenal day for New Hampshire Cross Country!! We will have the race videos for you tomorrow!!! Another post for you numbers people out there!!! Like Manchester Invite, having all divisions compete on the same day and the same course reveals a plethora of data. Unlike past years where conditions would stay relatively consistent throughout, 2018 saw a massive deterioration of course conditions while the meet progressed as weather conditions worsened and the ground became like a slip and slide in spots. This makes one wonder what the estimated differential may have been between the first 2 races and the last 2 races?? 10 seconds per runner, 20 seconds, or even 30 seconds??? While we will never definitively know, 2018 certainly stands out as unique when it comes to this subject! Obviously we are still posting this to see how the best teams stacked up against each other across divisions, but one should take the aforementioned into account. What is consistent however is the grit displayed by all NH harriers this past Saturday!!! Besides, this will all be settled on Saturday at MOCs!!! Another great aspect of NH Cross Country!
One might wonder how this correlates to Meet of Champions held on a very flat and fast course, opposed the hilly and challenging Derryfield. In 2013, the Merge predicted 5 of the 6 qualifiers in both races. In 2014, the Merge successfully predicted 5 of the 6 qualifiers in the girls race and 4 of the 6 qualifiers in the boys race. In 2015, the Merge was a perfect 6 for 6 in the girls race and predicted 5 of 6 in the boys race. In 2016, the Merge was a perfect 6 for 6 in both girls and boys races, with the girls predicting the exact order of team finish. In 2017 , it predicted 5 of the 6 teams in both the girls and the boys. Will the 2018 Merge have the same success? Will there be any surprises this year?? Thanks LancerTiming!!!
