In celebration of the two awesome State Championships held this past weekend, we decided we would award this to each Division, so we have 2 HOKA Male Athletes of the Week. They both had performances to remember. We begin with Bedford’s Jacob Redman, who is a D1 Champ in 2 events cementing his position as the top distance runner in Division 1. He started his day with a comfortable W in the 1k with a time of 2:36.25. His PR this season, according to TFRRS-NH, is a 2:35.92. We feel he can go much faster in this event. He followed that with a win in the 1500 in 4:04.56, which is his best time of the year. These 2 performances were instrumental in Bedford’s surprise team title this weekend and first in school history! Congrats to Jacob Redman, this week’s Division 1 HOKA Athlete of the Week!
The Division 2 honoree was perhaps overlooked entering his 600 meter race, but will be no more. Judging by the response to his finishing pic (thanks Jay Smith), Coe-Brown’s Gavin Demas has arrived. Not predicted to win, Demas sat comfortably in 3rd over 2/3s of the race this past Sunday only to unleash a devastating final lap to take his first ever individual state title in 1:22.74. This time is 2nd only to top middle distance runner in the state, Sean Clegg. Sidelined the week or so prior to the State Championships, Demas was a vital member of Coe-Brown’s first ever boys indoor title in school history. We are also very much looking forward to seeing what Demas can do over the last few weeks of indoors. Congrats to Gavin Demas, this week’s Division 2 HOKA Athlete of the Week!
