Fifty years ago this season, Concord won the NH State and New Englands titles led by Tom Atherton. Remarkably, after beginning his junior year as the Crimson Tide’s 6th man, Atherton concluded his senior year as the New England Champion!! Incredible! He went on to win a Conference Championship for Plymouth State, and setting his own personal record of running 10,328 days in a row (over 27 years).
This week, after a tragic accident, Tom Atherton passed away. One of “Luti’s Boys”, Atherton certainly epitomized what we feel is the essence of our NH Cross Country Community.
