I love the clip of the 1994 footlocker battle. That clip doesn’t exist on YouTube. It’s gotta be on some ole coach’s vhs tapes.
Pretty cool update on Downin’s life after high school. Thanks Eagle Tribune!

Not sure about “all time.” I could make an argument for Concord’s Roger Maxfield, who won every race he ran in 1963, including the New Englands, AND set a course record on every course he ran that year except at the New Englands. Or Dover’s Bob Moody who won the Class A (predecessor to Class L) meet three times in 48, 49, 50, or Keene’s Pete Fletcher who accomplished the same feat in 56, 57, 58, in the days before Meet of Champions and Footlocker Nationals. Probably wasn’t any footage of those guys racing though!
Seems we might need to revisit the Boys top Five after the last two weekend’s runs by Aidan Cox. Top NH time on Derryfield Park under less than ideal conditions, #4 all time, and the first under 15 minutes at Mine Falls. I suppose we can wait until his entire career has been scripted but he’s on his way. Congratulations young Mr. Cox.
