Congratulations to Oyster River’s Maegan Doody and the Coe-Brown girls team for competing and representing New Hampshire at Nike Cross Nationals this past weekend. Competing after a week of rain, non-stop rubbing elbows with elite athletes like Shalane Flanagan, Galen Rupp, and Mary Cain, the Granite Staters each ran strong races to show the nation what New Hampshire Cross Country is all about.
Doody and Hannah Parker went out in the top 30 at 5:42-5:45 pace and actually found each other mid-race. They raced against the best from the country for about a mile, until Doody pulled away in the final 800 to place 52nd in 18:40 and Parker finishing in 18:48.
The Coe-Brown girls team navigated the rain soaked Glendenveer golf course to place 16th in the nation. Scoring for the Bears were Liz Danis 87th 19:05, Brooke Laskowsky 122nd 19:30, Alli Pratt 136th 19:39, and Julia Cormier 171st 20:15.
Overall, all the girls commented that it was an experience of a lifetime. Check out the photos by Dave Scannell and the video diary below to get some insight as to what they experienced.
