For Division1, we have a Bedford Bulldog theme. As a school, Bedford swept both the girls and boys team titles this past weekend. In a meet of standouts, these 2 stood out the most. They both contributed 20 points to their respective teams’ causes for which Bedford girls scored 90 points and the boys 88 points.
On the girls’ side, junior Fiona Lee swept both the 1600 and 800. She won the 1600 kicking home in 5:21.54 winning a close competitive race by almost 2 seconds. The 800 was even closer with Lee winning by half a step in front of Dover’s Anique Poulin. She was a surprise of sorts here as Poulin, the indoor 600 state champ was the favorite.
Lee’s teammate, Christopher Chong swept both hurdle events which he has dominated all season long. Only a junior, Chong won close races both by around .3, but both seemed like he was comfortable. The High Hurdles he won in 15.46 and the 300 hurdles in 39.24.
Congrats to Bedford’s Fiona Lee and Christopher Chong, this week’s D1 Championship HOKA Athletes of the Week.
