JV State Championship Meet Hub

On a beautiful Friday afternoon, Division 1 held their JV State Championships at Alvirne. Congratulations to Pinkerton as they swept the boys and girls state team titles as well as boasting the individual champions to boot. The boys led off and won scoring a scant 22 points. Leighton Klug led the Long Red Line with a 17:25 and was quickly followed by teammate Spencer Pidhurney who placed 2nd in 17:33. Salem’s Jacob Slade nabbed third in 17:41, but was soon followed by Pinkerton’s third scorer Caleb Arroyo in 17:49. Brody Eckerman and Michael Griffin would round out Pinkerton’s championship scoring five as they placed 7th and 8th respectively in 18:00 and 18:01. For good measure their 6th was right with Eckerman and Griffin as Marcus Sowa placed 9th. Completing the top 10 was Keene’s Sawyer Kress (5th-17:51), South’s Evan Jean (6th-17:55) and Salem’s Anthony Reynoso (10th-18:09). Salem edged South by 1 point for 2nd 67-68.
The Pinkerton girls may have scored more points (42) and were in a tighter battle for the win with both Exeter and Bedford, but they swept the first 3 places as Abigail Stienecker won in 21:09 and was followed by Mia Eckerman and Samantha Priya Philipp, who ran 21:28 and 21:57 respectively. Exeter also placed 3 in the top 10 as Amber Orleans placed 4th, Maeve Roache was 7th and Celia Zagami crossed in 9th. To their credit Bedford placed 3 in the top 11 with Nora Buxton (5th), Samantha Arp (8th) and Reese Wisherd (11th). In the end the Trail Blazers would win by 6 points over Exeter as their 4th scorer Bridget Johnson and 5th scorer Violet Lenzi placed 17th and 27th overall. Bedford placed a close 3rd just 9 points behind Exeter with 57 points. Windham’s Jocelyn McGarry and Londonderry’s Aylin Hand completed the top 10 placing 6th and 10th respectively.
