10 Events to Watch! 2025 Bobcat Invitational!

Live Results

By Patrick O’Brien

While in our minds every event in a track and field meet is worth watching and loving, there are always those which stand out. Depending on the teams attending, these events tend to shift meet to meet. So in the spirit of “Top 10 Lists”, below are the Top 10 events to watch for at tomorrow’s 2024 Bobcat Invitational. And yes we are livestreaming!

Boys LJ

The Boys Long Jump boasts a very strong field, featuring 8 guys who have jumped 20 feet or further. We could see a good battle for the crown unfold, as less than 2 inches separate our Top 2 entries, Bryce Sartin of Coe-Brown and Josh Kelly of Portsmouth. They are both in the low 21s, with Raymond’s Dennis Glidden not too far behind as well.

Girls 800

As was the case last year, the Girls 800 should be one of the marquee events at the meet. The Top 3 entries are the fastest milers in the state in Oyster River’s Haley Kavanagh and Mackenzie Cook as well as Exeter’s Alexis Paterna. Throw in Bow’s Hannah Pawlowski who has run 2:20 this year, and we could see some very fast times here.

Boys 100

The Boys 100 should definitely be a good one, as 4 guys all seem to have a good shot at winning. Talon Ouellette of Oyster River is the top seed at 10.95 and will look to defend his home track. He will have plenty of competition from Cesar Flahn of Manchester Central (New England Runner-Up in the 55m this winter), Samuel Bruneau of Hollis/Brookline (Reigning D2 100m Champion and Record Holder), and Owen Janetos of Winnacunnet (D1 300m Champion this winter).

Girls Shot Put

The girls throws should all be good events at Bobcat, but the Discus may be the best one, as there are 4 girls all amongst the top 10 in the state, all over 100 feet. Coe-Brown’s Isabelle Grenier and Bedford’s Carolyn Kemp have a bit of advantage over the rest of the field, at 112’ 3” and 109’ 1” respectively.

Boys 1600

The Boys 1600 has some intriguing names at the top. This starts with Bishop Guertin’s Matthew Giardina, one of the top distance runners in New England, who has run 4:15 in the mile this season. He will do his best to keep the race honest, as seeded 2nd is Winnacunnet’s Ryan Zumbach, who has run low 4:20s, but also has a 1:53 800 to his name. Keep an eye on the clock for this one, as this could be the fastest 1600 we have seen at the Bobcat Invite.

Girls 300h

We will see 3 of the best in the state go at it in the Girls 300 Hurdles, as Hollis/Brookline’s Grace Dow, Central’s Angela Cenesca, and Winnacunnet’s Maitri Clifford have all run in the 47s. With 4 more girls under 50, this looks like a pretty stacked final.

Girls HJ

Girls High Jump one looks wide open, as there are 5 girls within 2 inches of each other at the top. Sya McKay of Somersworth and Camden Wilson of Bow are at 5’ 2” and 5”1”. With Sanborn’s Hannah Tomany, Oyster River’s Amalie Trump, and Portsmouth’s Emma Lander all right behind at 5’, it really could be anyone’s day.

Boys 3200

The 3200s kick off the meet at Bobcat, and the boys race looks to be a good field led by some strong underclassmen. Bishop Guertin’s Ethan Fischer is the top seed followed closely by Oyster River’s Oliver Lehman. We could see these 2 pull away, but don’t be surprised to see Bedford’s Jack Mortimer and Oyster River’s Levi Clapp mixing it up as fellow sub-10 guys. This race showcases some of the next generation, as Ethan is a freshman and Oliver, Jack and Levi are all sophomores.

Girls 100h

The Girls 100h should be another great hurdles race, and a bit of a D2 Preview, as we see the top 3 girls in the Division facing off. That would be Hollis/Brookline’s Grace Dow, Coe-Brown’s Bristol Shirland, and Oyster River’s Avery Baumgardt. They are all seeded comfortably under 16, and will look to elevate their performances against top competition.

Boys PV

Another perennially strong event at Bobcat, we will see a field full of quality vaulters in the Boys Pole Vault, headlined by Leo Guarracino of Portsmouth at 13 feet. He could be challenged by his teammate Kelly Moriarty, or Exeter’s Thomas Eastwood, a foot behind.
