The first annual TMFKATMI! (The Meet Formerly Known As The Monadnock Invitational!) was held under blue skies this Saturday at Con-Val High School. The meet is the newest incarnation of what was originally called the Mount Monadnock Invitational. It has been run for 10 consecutive years though the name and location has varied.
While the new name got mixed reviews, the meet went smoothly and saw a slew of personal and season bests for athletes.
Boys’ Highlights
The boys from Bow let their presence be known by winning the meet with 152 points to runner up Con-Val’s 117. Hillsboro-Deering, Milford, Raymond, and Conant rounded out the top 6 teams. CV’s Del Bonsu-Anane, competing for the first time since May 1st, was awarded Best in Track as voted by coaches after taking 3rd in the 100, and winning both the 200 and 400. Samuel Bailey (Wilton-Lyndenborough) was awarded a much deserved Best in Field after sweeping the throwing events, with incredible marks in the Discus (146’0”) and Shot (49’5.25”)! Perhaps an award for all-around athlete might be in order for next year as Ben Ketterer (Hillsboro-Deering) took first in the 100, and Long Jump (21’10”) and Triple Jump (41’3.5”)! Additional standout performances were seen from Tyler Bennett of Bow who cleared 12’2” to win the pole vault!
Girls’ Highlights
The Milford Spartans took this one handily with 176 points to runner up Con-Val’s 100 points. Bow, Monadnock, Raymond, and Derryfield rounded out the top 6 teams. CV’s Clare Veverka received the Best in Track honors after taking first in the 1600 (5:09.76) and the runner up spot in the 3200. Robin Krafft of Milford took Best in Field with her double wins in Shot (33’11”) and Discus (122’2”). Other solid performances came from Rachel Hurley (Con-Val) 2nd in the 1600 & 1st in the 800 and Lauren Robinson (Milford) who won the 3200 in 11:11.71.
