What to Watch For! 2019 New Englands

Tomorrow, the Granite State will send its best to take on the rest of New England in Saco, ME at the 74th New England Championships at Thornton Academy. Another unique event to track and field, it often unites the track and field athletes from the ‘603’ throughout the day.

Below are some things to look for in events where NH seems the strongest!

Girls

Girls 400! Concord’s Grace Devanny is the top seed! After placing 3rd last year, this is the last of the unfinished business items on her list! She will be joined in the fast heat by her heir apparent, Salem’s Autumn Aronofsky as well as Winncunnet freshman Kylee Quinlan.
West’s Corinne Robitaille is seeded 5th with her solo 2:13.77. With the top seed at 2:09, Robitaille should have plenty of help to score a major PR! Hanover’s Christine Aman and Salem’s Silvia Caddell will be in the second fastest heat as they are seeded 14th and 15th respectively.
We are more than eager to see Kearsarge’s Mya Dube and BG’s Caroline Fischer test their mettle against the best of New England in the 1600! Dube is seeded a close 2nd and Fischer a close 4th! Let’s Go!!!
Freshmen Sophia Reynolds (MV) and Souhegan’s Chloe Trudel are ranked 10th and 12th respectively in the 3200.
Exeter freshman Sydney Lavelle is ranked 8th while Bedford’s Brianna CoCo and Salem’s Katya Rojco are right behind her as the 10th and 11th seeds in the 300 Hurdles.
Oyster River’s 4×100, close to a state record last week, very well may nab it this week as they are seeded 4th. while Winnacunnet’s 4×400 is ranked 8th and Salem’s is ranked 10th.
By virtue of her popping PR of 5’6″, Milford soph Leslie MacGrath is seeded tied for 2nd in the High Jump while Londonderry’s Suzie Moore is tied for third in the Pole Vault.
In the throws, it looks like the shot put is where the Granite State is best represented as Mady Buchalski (St. Thomas) is seeded 4th and North’s Victoria Conrad is seeded 8th. Conrad’s teammate, Aliana Mercado is seeded 9th in the Javelin.

Boys

Exeter’s Jacob Winslow is top seed in the 1600, but is taking the weekend off to rest up for the 5000 meters at Nationals next Friday. So, Campbell’s Jeffrey Allen will be the actual 7th seed going into tomorrow. He seems to be getting much stronger as the season progresses. We are looking forward to this one as well.
With Winslow taking an off weekend, MV’s David Reynolds moves up to the 7th seed, with Concord’s dynamic duo of Forest MacKenzie and Eli Boesch Dining moving up to 11th and 12th. Matter of fact, NH qualifiers are all in the top 15 as Winnacunnet’s Colin Donnelly and Keene’s Jake Velasquez are seeded 15th and 16th respectively. Their 9:27’s have held up!
Bedford’s Zach Verow is ranked 12th in the 400 at 49.79 and Remy Beaujouan is right behind him seeded 15th.
Pinkerton’s Conor Seleny is ranked 7th in the 300 Hurdles with Spaulding’s Adrian Sutton, Pelham’s John Elie and Pinkerton’s Adam Spencer ranked 10th, 11th, 12th right in a row.
Pinkerton’s Spencer’s 14.85 is the 11th seed in the Highs with Pelham’s Elie sitting at 14th.
Winnacunnet’s 4×800 has to be thinking podium as they are ranked 7th. Don’t rule out Keene as they have also dipped under 8:00 this season as well.
Pinkerton’s 4×100 is ranked 8th.
Ryan Sullivan and Exeter’s Jake Langevin are tied as the 5th seed.
Where is Portsmouth Vaulter Chris Mood’s 14’1″ clearance rank in New England??? 5th! Let’s Go!!!
The Shot Put seems to be the Granite State’s best shot in the throws to podium, especially if Coe-Brown’s Jon Thorn and Londonderry’s Patrick Hagearty begin pushing each other again as they are ranked 9th and 12th respectively!
