With the 2020 Winter Track & Field League season coming to a close, the best in the state will head to Leverone Field House at Dartmouth College Sunday in hopes of personal records, school records, individual victory or the rarest feat, bringing home the team championship. This without a doubt is our favorite day of the NH Winter Track and Field League season! Thanks to the organization of Amy Sanborn, Larry Martin and company along with the NHIAA, LancerTiming, the NHIAA State Indoor Championships are certainly unique providing 2 action packed meets which the most casual track and field fan can appreciate. But to the fanatics

Boys Accepted Entries
The 2020 Division 2 Boy’s Championship looks to be a very exciting meet with what seems like four teams in the hunt for a title and outstanding athletes from all teams looking for individual wins. Let’s focus on the individuals first, then take a look at team projections.
Sprints & Hurdles
In the Dash, a youth movement is in progress with sophomore Braeden Manti from Windham as the top seed by a good margin. Fast freshmen Edwen Rodriguez from Manchester West and Michael Curtin of Hollis/Brookline are ranked right behind while Kevin Schanlaber of White Mountains is a having a good season and is very much in the mix. Every year in the dash however we see a lower seed rise up and surprise the field; this year will likely be no 
different.
The 300 sometimes requires a slightly different skill set than the dash and that is reflected in different names at the top of those rankings this season. Windham’s Quinn Cerami tops the list and has been good all season. Seeded very close behind is John Thibault of Trinity. Newport’s Jagger Lovely, Windham’s Landon Neal and Caden Foster of Newmarket all have the talent to challenge the top 2 seeds for sure.
In the Hurdles, John Elie of Pelham is the guy to beat and has been excellent all season. Also very talented and racing well is Mason Martel of Newport. These two look like as close to a lock as it gets to score 1-2, but the next group of four hurdlers have seed times grouped within one tenth of a second! Hollis/Brookline’s Chase Adams, Alesandro Jacobellis of Windham, and the Portsmouth duo of Chris Mood and Andrew Kelly are all poised to fight it out for a top spot.
Mid-Distance
In the 600, Coe-Brown’s Porter Heigis has a commanding 3 second faster seed time than the next ranked athlete, Trevor Sassaman from Oyster River. There is another significant gap to the next pack of Bow’s Gabriel Neff, JP Wallace of Windham, and Hollis/Brookline’s Aidan Maguire. This looks to be anyone’s race in the 3-6 spots.
The 1000 is stacked with talent this year and might be one of the best races to watch all meet long. Oyster River’s Myles Carrico is a firmly established top seed, but not far behind are teammates Owen Fleischer and Henry Duisberg. Windham’s Rohan Rai and Coe-Brown’s Dawson Dubois are very legitimate threats to the top seeds as well. Don’t count out Dubois’s teammate Wyatt Mackey seeded 7th either. With Windham’s Cole Flenniken ranked 6th, the 1k respresents a microcosm 
of the entire meet. Will it be a wash for the 3 contending teams in Oyster River, Windham and Coe-Brown? Or will one school gain a bunch of points toward their goal? This could very well be a huge swing event.
Distance
Who can double/triple the best will be answered in the 1500 as this will be the second or third event for most of the field. Carrico sits atop this ranking as well, followed closely by teammate Andy O’Brien and the Coe-Brown tandem of Dubois and Luke Tkaczyk. A fresh Landen Vaillancourt certainly looks to capitalize on other’s tired legs and is a very real threat to win this one.
The 3000 looks to be very tactical, and places will be more valuable than times here. O’Brien is seeded atop this list by a full 10 seconds, but watch out for the Coe-Brown Cerberus of Aidan Cox, Luke Tkaczyk and Carter Sylvester to shoot for 3 of the top 4 spots and score mega points. Con-Val’s Harrison Kim and Windham’s Trey Gonzalez will be trying to stay in the mix as well.
Field Events
In the High Jump Portsmouth’s Andrew Kelly has been at the top of the rankings all season and looks to stay there. Always dangerous and very talented is Sidonio LaBelle Brown of Oyster River, ranked right behind. Jack Parker of White Mountains and Sanborn’s Max Lussier are also in the mix for a top 3 spot.
The Long Jump seeds show an incredible amount of depth and talent in the field this year and given the nature of the event, anything can happen. Schanlaber of White Mountains leads the field but ranked close behind are Dylan Foss of Pelham and Portsmouth’s Kelly. With 8 jumpers ranked at 20 feet or more, this field is stacked.
In the Shot Put Portsmouth’s Thor Griffith sits atop the rankings by 3 feet over the next seeded thrower. But look for Joshua Hoffman of Campbell, Emmanuel Ughu of Milford and Windham’s Andrew Abirached to push Griffith for that top position.
Relays
Distance powers Coe-Brown and Oyster River unsurprisingly have the top 2 seeds in the 4×800, followed by a very good Bow team. With team title implications involving four of the top six seeded teams in play in this event, watch for a dramatic kickoff to the day’s running events!
In the 4×400 Oyster River has a 3 second lead in the seedings over the next best team but Pelham, Coe-Brown and Portsmouth all are tightly bunched and any of them could make a play for a win. Again in this relay, team titles are on the line and every team in the hunt for a title is ranked in the top 5 here!
In the final event of the day there should be some terrific races as perennial sprint power Windham looks to have the 
edge over the field in the 4×200. Don’t count out three very fast teams in Newport, Newmarket and Portsmouth to scrap it out for big points.
Team Competition
Four teams look to have a realistic shot at a team championship title; Windham, Coe-Brown, Oyster River and Portsmouth. All have top end talent that can score big points in multiple events. This meet will be about not only talent but mental toughness, and who will have a great day on the biggest day.
With impressive depth and very high seeds across every race from the 600 to the 3000, the Bobcats of Oyster River look to have the best shot of all these teams for a title. Add in field event points and scoring from two relays and OR looks very tough to beat.
The Jaguars of Windham seem to be the next best team by a hair, but might just have enough to upset Oyster River. In a contrast of styles, Windham will use its speed and hurdle points while supplementing with just enough production from distance and relays to make them a legitimate threat to win it all.
And don’t count out the Coe-Brown Bears. They have distance talent that matches or exceeds Oyster River’s and this matchup will make every distance race of the day a must-watch. Coe-Brown could very well perform better than seeded in a few events and that just might be enough to put them over the top.
The Portsmouth Clippers look like they have enough for a 3rd or 4th place finish on paper. But with potentially big field event points, three highly ranked relay teams and a history of success in the hurdles, Portsmouth could capitalize if any of the other teams listed falter.
With more teams in play for a team title than usual, this year looks to be electric from start to finish with all the drama and intrigue a track fan could hope for!
