Each week we will be highlighting one male and female athlete who stood out with their cumulative performances of the week and/or had one jaw-dropping pop of a mark.
On the girls’ side, Bedford freshman Mikita Barry has made quite the splash on the NH Winter Track League scene. In successive meets over break she posted insane times for a newcomer both at UNH. In Bedford’s first meet of the season, Barry went off in the 600 running a solo 1:40.01 which is the top time in Division 1. She followed that with another Division 1 leading time of 43.89 on 12/30 in the 300 meters. She completed a day of “working out” by participating in Bedford’s 4×400 and 4×160 relays. As we have stated previously, UNH is the shortest track in the league at 160 meters, combine that with only running in flats, and these performances are all the more impressive. Congrats to Bedford’s Mikita Barry, this week’s HOKA Female Athlete of the Week!
