On an afternoon that did not reflect the cool nature of the Division 1 championships, the Division 3 Championships was a steamy event with the temperatures 30 degrees warmer than the previous evening in Hampton. But hot temperatures were reflected with hot performances in Bristol in both the field and on the track.

Girls

In the battle for the top of D3 on the girls side, we stated that if anyone was going to dethrone the Monadnock girls, the likely team would be the Spartans from White Mountains. We also said that this would depend on the weight of multiple events would have to throw off the Huskies, as their strength fell on the backs of a handful IMG_1393of athletes competing in multiple events.  In the end it came down to those two teams, but it wasn’t even close as Monadnock scored 137 points to WhiteMountains 73 points.  Monadnock got wins in the 3200 and the 4×100 and 4×400 meter relays, along with a bunch of points spread out over almost all the events.  The Spartans picked up wins in the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the triple jump, giving them an 18 point cushion over Bow.

Individually, White Mountains probably had the best day of all female contestants, winning the High Hurdles, 300 Hurdles (D3 Record of 45.13), and Triple Jump. Other strong performances that stick out are Jaila Remillard of Winnisquam, winning the 400 and Long Jump while finishing second in the 100 hurdles and third in the 200. Dominque Biron won the High Jump,100 and 200 meters.

Boys

In the Division 3 preview, we identified Kearsarge as the clear favorite, with Inter-Lakes and Hopkinton chasing and Belmont in the dark horse spot. Hopkinton certainly made the attempt to catch the front running Cougars, which vaulted them into the runner up spot over Inter-Lakes.  Kearsarge got a big boost in the field to set the pace of the meet, scoring 72 of their 119 points in field events.  Hopkinton got a boost in the sprints and jumps, and with some big points on the back of one of the State’s best distance men, Dom Repucci, totaling 99 points.  Inter-Lakes scored 75 and Belmont had 45 points.

Individually, the duo of Zach Astle and Troy Davis scored 52 points together for the Cougars, with Davis getting second in the long jump and winning the triple jump and the high jump (D3 record of 6’8.75″).  Astle won the shot throwing a foot further than the other divisions, and came in second in the discus and third in the javelin.

Hopkinton saw a dominant athlete in Nick Fleury, who took the wins in the IMG_1394100, 200, the long jump and the 400, just ahead of teammate Aaron Dobe. As mentioned before, teammate Dom Repucci had a heck of a day, finishing second to Cam Daly in both the 1600 and 800, then winning the 3200 as the rest of the field tried to take it to him in the early laps knowing he had to be tired from the previous efforts.

We certainly do not want to take anything away from Inter-Lakes Cam Daly, who won the 1600 and the 800, along with anchoring the winning 4×400 team and the third place 4×800 team.

Good luck to all the D3 athletes going on to Meet of Champions next week at Winnacunnet!

          1. It seems like Division III got the short straw this year with coverage. I could have had a videographer there if I new ahead of time nobody was going to be filming.. Runner’s Alley can’t be in 2 places at once. A quick post asking for help with coverage would have brought a large response from the Division III teams. Thank you very much for all you do with covering New Hampshire Track and Field, please ask for help!

          2. We would have loved to be at D3! Please remember, this is the 1st year of the NHTF website. We have asked and want those willing to contribute videos, results, photos via our ‘Community Uploads’ page! That is the purpose! This website will only be as good as the NH Track Community, regardless of Division makes it! Currently we have a very small staff of volunteers who are coaches first. We try to supplement as much as we can. BTW – when it became apparent that we would not be able to cover D3 Championships, we covered the Wilderness Championships on what was supposed to be a day off for us!
Also, please keep in mind that Runner’s Alley is our most generous sponsor. Without them, we would not be able to achieve the present quality you are now enjoying. But they do not manage or run the website. Thanks for your comment! If you have anyone in particular in mind that would be willing in the coming seasons please have them contact us!!!

  1. Yes! Alex Curtis had a great day for White Mountains not only breaking her D3 in the 300m hurdles but also breaking her D3 record in the 100m high hurdles (15.15) and just missing out on a 40 individual points day with a photo finish in 200m dash. Thanks for the recap,

  2. I agree with the comment on DIII coverage. I understand that this site just started up, and honestly you guys have done a great job with the small staff you do have. I’m not going to complain about DIII coverage this year, i just want to say that I hope next year DIII athletes get the recognition they deserve. We may be small but we have many great athletes that pack a big punch. I’m sure many of the coaches would love to help out.
