By Nate Leveille – Exeter Coach

I always considered the Nashua North Invitational as the starting point of all the big invites for the outdoor track season.  It historically has also had on display some of the best talent New Hampshire and Massachusetts has to offer.  Even though it is vacation week for many schools in New Hampshire, this year shouldn’t be any different.

Things to watch for on the girls side:2016 MoC-539

Grace Devanny of Concord and Katya Levasseur of Manchester Central should have some good battles in the sprints.  Freshman sensation Caroline Fischer of Bishop Guertin has incredible range and could win anything from the 400-meter run to the 2 mile, while distance runner Madeleine Hunt of Souhegan will look to continue a strong senior year.

Sarah Williams of Dover is a name most coaches will know come championship season. She could be the girl to beat in the shot put and discus.  Siaoli Wright of Merrimack will try to defend her crown in the 300 meter hurdles against Elle Johnson of Exeter and Maria Virga of Pinkerton

Powerful pairs should rule the jumps as Katy Nippert and Katya Rojco of Salem will be in the horizontal jumps and Sydney Lewis and Paige Shaughnessy of Nashua South should dominate the vertical jumps.

Merrimack Invitational-136Things to watch for on the boys side:

The dynamic sprint duo of Nico Buccieri and Jadyn Ruimwijk of Pinkerton both looked sharp last weekend in Haverhill, MA and should show well once again this weekend.  The 800 should be an exciting race to watch between Jacob Swanney of Timberlane, Jacob Winslow of Exeter, Noah Bellomo of Alvirne, and Calvin Graves of Pinkerton.

Running on his home track should help David Vorbach of Nashua North in either the Mile or the 2 mile.  Speaking of Nashua North, they will look to dominate the triple jump with two boys, Triston Dellcema and Jordan Buckmireover 46 feet!

Colin Bigelow of Pinkerton looks to follow up a huge 2016 spring season with an even bigger 2017 in the javelin, while Terrell Lewis of Nashua South continues to impress in the high jump and Hurdles.
