Loucks Games

Each year, there is a contingent of NH teams and individuals who make the trek south to White Plains, NY for one of the more competitive meets in the country. Annually, Loucks Games produces some of the top performances in the nation across various events. Whether one travels there for the experience or simply seeking more/different competition, regardless of weather, Loucks is a can’t-miss event if it works in a team’s schedule.
Winning an event here is simply hard, but once in a while certain athletes make it look easy as Pinkerton’s John King did with winning the Javelin with a toss of 190’5″, a full 25+ feet ahead of second place. Making it 2 for the 603, Winnacunnet’s all-everything, Billy Powers, also claimed the big trophy winning the Highs in 14.31, by over half a second! He also placed 7th in the 400 (yes 400) meter hurdles clocking a 56.36. Pinkerton’s Adam Spencer placed 10th in 57.34.
Concord’s Grace Devanney has been looking for tough competition to help her run fast all season. She certainly found it at Loucks, placing 4th pulling her to a fantastic time of 57.59. Also in the 400 meter, Trinity’s Stephen Duckett dropped a 49.73 to place 7th. Anyone looking forward to Duckett v. Noah Woodman at MOCs? Don’t rule out sophomore Dante Radiganda of Exeter who dropped to the 51s either. It should be mentioned that Duckett also clocked a 22.19 to place 8th in the 200 on Friday after blazing a 21.93 in the prelims!! We have videos at the bottom of this post! Also on Friday, Raymond’s Anna Harmon placed 7th in the 800 in 2:15.68 to be NH’s top finisher, while Windham’s Spenser Sawyer took the honor on the boys’ side with a 1:55. 90 for 12th.
Pinkerton’s Amelia Graves placed 2nd in the Javelin (115’11”). Souhegan’s girls 4×800 also made the podium placing 6th in 9:38.11. Concord’s Aidan O’Hern was the top Granite Stater placing 9th in the Mile with a 4:19.48. North’s David Vorbach and Max Ireland ran 9:12.46 and 9:24.18 to place 13th and 23rd respectively in what has become one of Loucks’s signature events, the 3200. This year featured six individuals breaking the 9:00 barrier!

At one of the most beautiful facilities in the state, Oyster River High School hosted their first Invitational this past weekend. Highlighted by the culminating event, the mixed gender 4×400 relay, the Inaugural Bobcat Invitational was certainly athlete and fan friendly. Kudos to the Oyster River Athletic Department, coaching staff and community for pulling this off! It was so athlete-friendly, a total of 36 meet records were set! 🙂
