Congrats to all on a phenomenal day for New Hampshire Cross Country!! Another post for you numbers people out there!!! Like Manchester Invite, having all divisions compete on the same day and the same course reveals a plethora of relative data. We are posting this to see how the best teams stacked up against each other across divisions! Of course every year an argument can be made regarding course and weather conditions differing as the day and races wear on. Some years this argument is considered more than others; however, this will all be settled on Saturday at MOCs!!! Another great aspect of NH Cross Country!
One might wonder how this correlates to Meet of Champions held on a fast course, opposed the hilly and challenging Derryfield. In 2013, the Merge predicted 5 of the 6 New England qualifiers in both races. In 2014, the Merge successfully predicted 5 of the 6 qualifiers in the girls race and 4 of the 6 qualifiers in the boys race. In 2015, the Merge was a perfect 6 for 6 in the girls race and predicted 5 of 6 in the boys race. In 2016, the Merge was a perfect 6 for 6 in both girls and boys races, with the girls predicting the exact order of team finish. In 2017 , it predicted 5 of the 6 teams in both the girls and the boys. In 2018 it predicted 5 of 6 on the girls side and a perfect 6 for 6 on the boys! In 2019, it predicted a perfect 6 of 6 on the girls side, and 5 of 6 on the boys. Will the 2021 Merge have the same success? In 2020, it predicted 6 of 6 on the girls side and 4 of 6 on the boys side. In 2021 and 2022, it predicted 5 of 6 on both the girls and boys sides. Will there be any surprises this year??
