Oh what a night! The 2025 Merrimack High School Invitational delivered a thrilling showcase of speed, strength, and skill producing a couple pending state records as well!!! Hats off to Merrimack High School and Lancer Timing for once again putting on an incredible event!
Girls
Sprints & Hurdles

Concord’s Grace Saysaw of Concord had a day! She won the 100 in a blazing 12.12 with Nora Brayall of Pinkerton and Leanny Ortiz-Blanco of Salem following in 12.69 and 12.75, respectively. This time puts her within an eye blink of the existing state record of 12.01 (OR’s Dominique Twombly 2014). However in the 200, Saysaw blasted around the turn to a 24.40, which broke the existing record (24.44) which was set way back in 1971 by Kathy Lawson of Keene! This was the oldest state record! Leiana Cory of Portsmouth took second in 25.25, and Tiana Brown of Nashua North finished third in 26.16.

Another double winner was Jhanelle Thomas of Nashua North who dominated both hurdle events. She crushed the high hurdles with a 14.79 finish. Bristol Shirland of Coe-Brown was next in 15.41, and Tiana Brown of Nashua North was third (15.91). Thomas added a second win in the 300 Hurdles 45.60, followed by Sienna Metcalf of Portsmouth (48.61) and Bristol Shirland again with third in 49.90.
The 400 saw pre race favorite, Charlotte Beaudoin of Timberlane claiming the win in 58.00, with Isabelle Bremer of Exeter (60.26) and Nabah Yahya of Concord (60.67) rounding out the podium.
Distance

Laura White of Nashua North won decisively, leading from gun to tape in 5:08.76. Shelly Smith of Concord (5:23.00) and Melanie Bedard of Merrimack (5:26.22) secured second and third. Brianna Paterna of Exeter surged to the top in the 800 in 2:19.30. Nicole Blake of Pinkerton was second in 2:23.35, followed by Drewanne Sherman of Londonderry in 2:26.22. Brianna sister, Alexis Paterna led a 1-2 punch for Exeter, finishing first in 11:16.62, with teammate Eli Cross second at 11:19.71. Gabrielle Bedard of Pinkerton took third in 11:41.73.
Relays
Concord (Toenah, Goulas, Conteh, Saysaw) broke the existing state record in the 4×100 breaking the tape in 48.33! Portsmouth (50.22) was second with Pinkerton (50.40) close behind. Nashua North (Frye, Neveu, Wilson, Thomas) earned the win here in 4:04.19, edging Exeter (4:05.43) with Portsmouth placing 3rd (4:10.72).
Field Events

Vertical Jumps
NH High Jump queen, Danielle Bates of Timberlane, cleared 5-04.00 to win. Abigail Stienecker of Pinkerton and Cassandra Jimeno of Merrimack both tied for second at 4-10.00. In the pole vault,
Shannon Elizabeth of Coe-Brown won clearing 9-08.00. Madeline Muller of Concord and Brooke Bachhuber of Coe-Brown followed at 8-06.00.
Horizontal Jumps
Ella Goulas of Concord swept both wins in the long and triple jumps. She leaped to 16-10.00 in the long jump, beating teammate Ballay Conteh (16-05.25) and Katie Coleman of Pinkerton (15-07.50). She won by almost 4 feet in the triple with a huge 38-01.00. Nabah Yahya of Concord was second (34-03.50) and Danielle Bates took third with 34-02.00.

Throws
Consuelo Borico of Concord launched the shot 37-02.25 for the win in the shot put. Gabriella Mosto of Salem followed with 33-09.25, and Lucille Beem of Exeter was third at 32-11.50. Jameson Trask of Pinkerton threw the discus 116-07 for the win while Chloe Cruz of Nashua South (110-04) and Isabelle Grenier of Coe-Brown (105-00) rounded out the podium. In the javelin, Brooke Kelly of Dover took first with 106-04, narrowly ahead of Gabriella Mosto (97-09) and Elizabeth Joy of Coe-Brown (97-06).

In what could be a D1 preview, Concord showcased balanced excellence in sprints, jumps, throws, and relays to win the team title by a wide margin. Their stars — Grace Saysaw, Ella Goulas, Ballay Conteh, and Nabah Yahya — each played pivotal roles. Nashua North thrived in the hurdles and relays behind Jhanelle Thomas and Tiana Brown, while Pinkerton stayed competitive thanks to versatile contributions from Nora Brayall, Katie Coleman, and Gabrielle Bedard. Never count out Exeter though!
Boys

Sprints & Hurdles
Nick Daigle of Salem won the high hurdles in 14.95, followed by Josh Kelly of Portsmouth (15.11) and Oliver Gould of Pinkerton (15.12). Travis Cavallo (Pinkerton) sprinted to the win in the 100 meters in 10.86, just ahead of teammate Winston George (10.93). Luca Kabel of Merrimack rounded out the top three with 11.00.

Theo Beattie of Portsmouth won the 400 in a blazing 50.12, edging Shane Plumley of Alvirne (50.13) and Brodie Proulx of Exeter (50.22). Joey Marcotte of Alvirne ran away with the 300 meter hurdles in 39.50. Kelly doubled back for second (42.08), and Gavin Suchecki of Nashua North placed third in 42.23.
Luca Kabel returned from his 3rd in the 100 to win the 200 in 22.23. Jamison Isaac of Pinkerton was close behind (22.41) and Leonel Lopez of Nashua South earned bronze in 22.68.
Distance

Jason Robie of Pinkerton won the 1600 with a strong 4:28.71 finish. Dallen Noorda of Souhegan placed second (4:31.95) while Daniel Byrne of Nashua South took third (4:34.62). In the ultra competitive 800, Brock James of Salem kicked late to win in 1:55.73. Will Hart of Portsmouth was second in 1:56.04, and Melo Berdecia of Dover came back for third at 1:56.14. And in the 3200, Trainor Mailloux of Pinkerton ran a smart race employing a devastating kick to clock 9:33.75, holding off Lucas Gomez of Salem (9:38.14) and Nolan Peters of Portsmouth (9:40.76).
Relays
The 4×100 saw Pinkerton’s team of Cavallo, George, Michaud, and Isaac storm to a win in 42.35. Londonderry was right behind at 42.72, and Nashua South earned third in 42.83. The 4×400 gave us quite the conclusion on the track as Nashua North outleaned Exeter at the line, 3:26.36 to 3:26.44, with Nashua South close behind in 3:27.45.
Field Events

Vertical Jumps
Gavin Suchecki of Nashua North cleared 6-00.00 for the win in the high jump. Kaiden Okowuga of Merrimack took second at 5-10.00, while Oliver Gould of Pinkerton grabbed third on a jump-off at the same height. The pole vault state record (15’8″) is officially on watch as Colby Nyhan of Concord soared to 15-06.00 to win it all. A tie for second went to Owen Pisinski of Souhegan and Alex Tahan of Pinkerton, both clearing 12-06.00.
Horizontal Jumps
Luc Gaudet of Londonderry won the long jump with a mark of 20-09.00, with Luke Peters of Nashua North just behind at 20-08.00. Luca Kabel of Merrimack made it a third-place finish with 20-07.00.
Freshman Thomas Saysaw of Concord impressed with a massive 42-10.50 to win the triple jump. Kyle Severance (41-09.50) and Oliver Gould (41-01.00) kept Pinkerton in the points.
Throws

Darius Smith of Nashua North simply continued to win shot put competitions powering the shot to 52-10.00, besting Shawn Boudreau of Alvirne (51-02.50) and teammate Noah Pasterczyk (48-02.00). To his credit, Boudreau added won in the discus with a huge 174-04 toss. This puts the D1 record (171’6″) on notice as division records can only be set at the Division State Championships. Thomas Blaszka of Pinkerton threw 133-10, and Sam Pfitzenmayer of Concord was third at 132-08. Charles Franks of Pinkerton launched a winning throw of 180-08 to take the javelin. Sawyer Penny of Nashua South took silver with 169-01, and Vincent Ventura of Pinkerton added bronze at 151-04.

With standout efforts from sprinters Travis Cavallo, Jamison Isaac, and versatile field athlete Oliver Gould, Pinkerton showed unmatched depth. Nashua North leaned on strength in the jumps and relays, while Nashua South stayed in the mix with help from throwers and relay squads. Special nods go to Shawn Boudreau for his win-and-podium combo in the throws, and Thomas Saysaw, the Concord freshman who took down the triple jump.
