This past weekend saw many of NH’s teams in action sprinkled around the state at a handful of small invitationals. Below are the results as well as links to pics

With spring finally arriving, Belmont got to get the 2019 season off on the right track (pun intended). After a few years in the making, the Belmont crew of John Goegel, Aaron Hayward and Scott Clark christened the new eight lane track to competition for the first time by hosting an incredible 13-team meet that saw some strong early season performances.
On the track side of things, the Kennett girls A team got things off by running 11:55 to beat Gilford in 11:57 for the 4×800. The Winnisquam boys rolled, running 8:51, buoyed by performances from the Mann brothers.
In the 100 Hurdles, Belmont’s Sana Syed beat Gilford’s Emma Ramsey by running 17.91 to Ramsey’s 18.21. We would see this order of finish in the 300 Hurdles as well, with Syed winning 51.68 to 56.10. On the boys side, Somersworth’s Jason Suwu beat Raymond’s Nick Brazeau 17.11 to 17.61, and again in the 300 hurdles, 45.91 to 46.38.
They were off to the races in the 1600 where the Hopkinton girls showed the prowess that brought them last year’s cross country title. Cailey Stockwell would win this one over Belmont’s Alice Riley, 5:38 to 5:40, with teammates Anna O’Reilly and sister Sydney Stockwell in fifth and sixth. The Mascenic duo of Landen Vaillancourt and Logan Thibault went right to the front with Belmont’s Zach Ennis in tow. Respecting Ennis’s finishing speed, the boys kept their foot on the gas, going 4:33 and 4:36 with Ennis in third with 4:40, 20 seconds ahead of fourth place.
In the 4×100, Belmont girls snuck one from Gilford and Epping, running 54.71 to 55.40 and 55.95. On the boys side, Belmont had a little more breathing room, winning in 48.36 over Winnisquam (49.29)and Hopkinton (49.59.)
Gilford’s Natalie Fraser dominated the 400, winning by more than 3 seconds, in 1:03.11. InterLakes Eli Dupigny was dominant as well, winning in 54.28 over teammate Owen Billin in 55.60.
The Hopkinton girls were back in the 800, with Cailey Stockwell winning again in 2:35, over teammates O’Reilly and Stockwell with Riley in fourth. Mascenic’s Dakota Somero went right to the front and never looked back, winning gun to tape in 2:11.
Belmont’s freshman phenom Jada Edgren won the 200 in 29.11 over Gilford’s Brianna Fraser. IL’s Dupigny was back in the 200, winning comfortably in 24.10 over Winnisquam’s Hunter Hixman.
Looking to simply get the D3 qualifying time under their belt, InterLake’s Maya Weil-Cooley and Mascenic’s Quinn Aldrich went out in 1:40’s looking to run 13:30 in the 3200. Weil-Cooley was at the front every step of the way with the girls clicking off 1:38 to 1:40 laps through 6 laps when the pace quickened. Weil-Cooley slowly squeezed the trigger down, winning 13:08 to 13:11. The French connection of Vaillancourt and Thibault were back in the 3200 as well, rolling 80s for the first five laps with Berlin’s Sam Stiles. Vaillancourt then began to crank up the effort a bit splintering the front pack. He would come home in 10:24 with Thibault and Stiles in 10:48 and 11:00.
The Hopkinton trio of Stockwell, Stockwell and O’Reilly would add Ellsworth to the fold, winning the 4×400 in 4:31. Gilford made a late charge speared by Natalie Fraser to step in and steal second in 4:38. Kennett would dominate on the men’s side, winning in 3:47 over Belmont in 3:52.
In the high jump, Prospect Mountian’s Gabby Clark won with 4-6 over Gilford’s Laurel Gingrich. Gilford’s Finn Baldwin won clearing 5’8″ over Belmont’s Bryce Hall. InterLake’s Greta Achenbach won the long jump with 14-10.5 over Belmont’s Skylar Ruelke with 14-6. Achenbach also won the triple jump with 31-3.5 over Grace Hardie of Prospect Mountain. Eli Dupigny would be back in the long jump to win with a 20-8.5, winning by more than a foot over teammate Mykyle Merrill. Teammate Owen Billin would win triple by almost four feet, jumping 41-5.5 to Belmont’s Eddie Mann who jumped 37-6.
In shot put, Sarah Seymour of Winnisquam won with a 26’8″ effort. Somersworth’s Chase Sprague would win for the boys with a shot of 40’1″. Discus would see Winnisquam’s Hannah Blackburn win with a throw of 80’0″ with the second place throw by Berlin’s Natalie Guitard of 78’10” coming out of the first flight. Kennett’s Jeremiah Brito won for the boys, throwing 107’6″. Hopkinton’s Jessie Carney would win the javelin, throwing 91’1″, winning by almost three feet. Gilford’s Corey Weston would win with a throw of 130’4″, besting the rest of the field by six feet.
Gilford girls would win the team contest easily, scoring 103 to Belmont’s 79 points. InterLake’s would win a close on the boys side, 85 to 81 over Belmont.
