Dartmouth Relays (183 of 727)By Nate Leveille

What a tradition and what a meet for New Hampshire athletes!  The Dartmouth Relays is a staple of New Hampshire Indoor Track and Field.  Many New Hampshire schools bring their most talented athletes with the opportunity to run against the best the northeast has to offer.  This year did not disappoint.

Friday night was the start of the Dartmouth Relays.  As a coach, I will say this is the first time I have attended Friday night.  I think sometimes as coaches (myself included) we get caught up on qualifying times and preparing individuals for states.  It’s important to remember that track can be a fun sport and the kids like to mix things up. There’s no better way to do this than to enter a Sprint Medley Relay or Distance Medley against some of the best competition in the Northeast. Exeter was the top team finisher in the girls’ SMR finishing 7th with a time of 4:24.79.  Souhegan had the top New Hampshire DMR time finishing 3rd in 13:10.38 just outleaning Coe-Brown in 13:10.40. Milford finished 6th in 13:24.90.Dartmouth Relays (395 of 727)

Continuing on the girls’ side, the sprinters got things started off Saturday.  New Hampshire put two in the finals of the dash. D2 #1 Devin McClain of Oyster River placed 3rd in a blazing time of 7.45 and Grace Devanny of Concord appeared to pull up in the finals finishing 7th in 7.62.  In the 300 meters Devanny of Concord flew to a second place finish in 40.50. She has a real shot at the state record in a couple more weeks. The next highest NH finisher was Amelia Concannon of Oyster River placing 9th.  Sydney Lewis of Nashua South was the lone qualifier in the Hurdle finals finishing 8th with a time of 9.04.

In the middle distance events, New Hampshire was led by Corinne Robitaille of Manchester West with a 2nd place finish in the 600m run in 1:39.80. The next best New Hampshire finisher was Memorial’s Asia Mercier with a D1 best 1:40.06 in 4th place.

In the 1000m run, Mikayla Randall of Keene challenged for the lead most of the race and nearly broke the 3 minute mark with a time of 3:01.23 good for 3rd place. This was a huge breakthrough for Randall, whose previous Pr was 3:07!  Rachel Hurley of ConVal finished 6th in a time of 3:07.98.

The distance events is where New Hampshire has been able to flex it’s muscle over the past few years.  This year was no different. In the 1 mile run, Lauren Robinson of Milford took the lead from the gun and led wire to wire with a winning time of 5:08.46.  The next highest New Hampshire finisher was Clare Veverka of ConVal with a 5th place finish in 5:15.04. New Hampshire made it 2 for 2 in the distance events with freshmen sensation Sophia Reynolds of Merrimack Valley. Reynolds took the lead from the gun and dared others to keep pace. Her first place finish time was 11:08.96. The next New Hampshire finisher was Chloe Trudel of Souhegan in 4th place with a time of 11:14.52. Dartmouth Relays (620 of 727)Violet Sullivan of Exeter finished 6th in 11:27.63.

The meet finished up with the three relays, 4×200, 4×400, and 4×800.  Exeter led the charge for New Hampshire in the 4×400 meter relay finishing 5th with a D1 best time of 4:14.87.  Oyster River was the top finisher in the 4×200 with a top NH time of 1:48.82, finishing 3rd.
