Congratulations to BG’s Matthew Giardina as he qualified for his second national championship of 2024 by placing 4th in 15:27 at the Footlocker Northeast Regional Championship at Franklin Park in Boston. Now Giardina will have a busy couple weeks traveling back and forth across the country as he heads to Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, OR this coming week and Footlocker Nationals in San Diego, CA the following week. It was classic Giardina as he rolled from the outset always among the top 10.
NH placed another 2 in the coveted top 30 as Keene’s Sullivan Sturtz placed 18th in 15:51 and Con-Val’s Will Simard took 21st in 15:53. North’s Laura White was NH’s top finisher on the girls side as she placed an impressive 30th in 18:53 to also earn a medal. Keep in mind athletes from as far south as Washington DC competed.
Of note, and as a glimpse to the future, a couple of NH’s freshmen who are fresh off their first season of NH Cross Country had nice days in the Freshman/Sophomore races. Hopkinton’s Maisie Emerson took 2nd in the girls race in 20:15 and Coe-Brown’s Patrick Youngs placed 5th in 17:05.
Congrats to all!
