Athlete Feature: Exeter’s Zach Adams

When did you start competing in track and field?

I started competing in track and field in the 5th grade for Hershey Track and Field.

What is your favorite track and field event?

The Triple Jump.

If you could do any event in track and field, which one would it be and why?

I would throw the discus because it’s not as much cardio and it’s fun to spin around.

Describe your favorite workout:

Workouts that focus on the different stages on the triple jump.

Describe your favorite race/competition memory:

My favorite memory is from the 2016 Seacoast Championships because I had personal bests in both the long jump and the triple jump. We won the meet as a boys team.

How does your coach motivate you?

Through intense workouts and motivation.

If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?

I would visit Kazakhstan for a week because I want to see the different sites, but ideally I would like to live in California.

What is your go-to pre-meet meal?

Homemade egg sandwich.

Do you have a favorite prerace song?

I listen to a lot of music during the day but not right before an event.

What motivates you most to do well?

I’m really competitive so I like doing well because I like to be the best that I can be.

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

In track, I would be a thrower and I would do the best I could do academically.

What is the best advice or quote ever given to you?

Go with your gut.

If you go to college, do you plan to compete in track and field? And where?

I will be attending NYU in the fall and will be competing on both the indoor and outdoor track and field teams.

What is your favorite thing about Track and Field?

That it can be as individual as you want it to be and as team oriented as you want it to be.

What is your favorite track facility?

I like Winnacunnet’s jumping pits and my favorite track to run on is Exeter’s.
