2022 Nashua North Preview

The Nashua North Invitational is always an early season competitive test.  And although they have had to adjust the course, this year would seem no different. DSC04033 Organizers have come up with a great alternative with kids in mind.  So let’s take a look at the possible contenders from teams who typically compete.

Competing teams usually include Nashua North, South, Concord, Bishop Guertin, Bedford, Pinkerton, Londonderry, Salem, Alvirne, Memorial, Groton-Dunstable and Merrimack.

With that said the girls race features four ranked teams with Bedford (#1), Concord (#3), Pinkerton (#8) and Bishop Guertin (#10).  Heavy favorite is Bedford which has both the low stick in Fiona Lee and tight pack with their 2-5 scorers being separated by mere seconds.  If Bedford holds true on a flat course like they did at the Cofrin Classic a couple weeks ago, they will win.  Look for the competition to really be between Concord, Pinkerton and BG.  We feel as the gap between all of these teams is somewhat small, which makes for great team cross country.

The boys side has 5 ranked teams.  As co-#10s, Londonderry and Concord both competing, one would think to the winner goes the spoils.  Consider this though, with Pinkerton, BG, and South also competing, one really does not know quite how this will shake out.  Add in seniors Sean Clegg for the Lancers and Concord’s Liam Gleason being on, the rankings could change dramatically.  Further, one would have to think the newly minted #3 Nashua South is hungry to back up their current ranking on what literally is their home course.  Factor in proud squads from BG and Pinkerton, this has the makings of a barn burner team wise.

Individually, Bedford’s Lee is the top returner and running well. Concord’s Alina Pincoske and Molly Nyhan will be looking to close that gap from Bobcat last week.  On the boys side watch for Londonderry’s Ryan Fortin, 3rd at Bobcat last week, as well as BG’s Matt Giardina.  Fortin’s teammate, Clegg will factor in as well as Concord’s Gleason.

We will be there!  Good luck to all!
