Week 2 Top Performers Roundup

This was a busy week. Dual and cluster meets throughout the week with three invitationals on the weekend. There were a lot of big performances coming from the dual and cluster meets! A big shout out to the winners of the invitationals! Check out the coverage from the Sanborn Regional Invitational on NHXCTF’s Instagram and You Tube pages! Looking forward to the upcoming Black Bear Invitational at Coe-Brown, Nashua North Invite, and The Campbell Cougar Classic! Good luck to all the NH athletes making their way to the Penn Relays!

Girls

Sprints and Hurdles

100m

Alaina Beck (Bedford) ran 12.55 at the Bedford Home Meet on Tuesday!

200m

The top four times in the state were run this past week. Leiana Cory (Portsmouth) 25.81 and Alaina Beck (Bedford) 25.87 battled at the Bedford Home Meet. Abigail Azevedo (Nashua North) ran 25.88 at the Nashua South Home Meet. Macy Sawyer (Guilford) clocked 26.01 at the Winniquam meet over the weekend.

400m

Charlotte Beaudoin (Timberlane) beat the field at the Sanborn Regional Invitational with a 58.57. Rosalie Neveu Nashua North crossed the line in 59.61 at the Nashua South Home Meet earlier in the week. Ava Lacasse (Belmont) took care of business with a 59.90 at the Winnisquam Meet. Emma Roeder (Exeter) won the Oyster River Spring Classic with a time of 1:00.03.

100m Hurdles

Avery Baumgardt (Oyster River) ran 15.60 over the weekend and won the Oyster River Spring Classic.

300m Hurdles

Abigail Azevedo (Nashua North) posted the best mark this week with a 48.47 at the Nashua South Home Meet on Monday. Victoria Rivera-Taylor (Monadnock) was the best at the Sanborn Regional Invitational with a 48.97.

Middle Distance and Distance

800m

The top five times in the state were run this past week. On Tuesday, Mikita Barry (Bedford) ran 2:12.53 at the Bedford Home Meet. At the Oyster River Spring Classic, The Exeter group of Alexis Paterna 2:18.62, Izzie Bremer 2:19.25, Brianna Paterna 2:20.03, and Madie Poteet 2:20.14 all ran fast early season times in the same race!

1600m

Maddy Lane (Hopkinton) kicked off her season running 4:55 to win the Sanborn Regional Invitational. Alexis Paterna (Exeter) 5:01.32, Brianna Paterna (Exeter) 5:03.73, and Olivia Kavanagh (Oyster River) 5:15.19 all ran quick times at the Oyster River Spring Classic.

3200m

Elli Englund (Plymouth Regional) covered the 8 laps the fastest at the Sanborn Regional Invitational in 11:52.65. 2nd place finisher Emma Short (Monadnock) ran an impressive 12:09.38. At the Monadnock Early Bird Meet on Tuesday, Erin O’Shea (Mascenic Regional) ran 12:12.42.

Jumps

High Jump

Thursday, Danielle Bates (Timberlane) cleared 5’ 05” at the Coe-Brown Cluster Meet. She also won the Sanborn Regional Invitational. At the Sanborn Regional Invitational teammates Isabella Schreiner (Windham) and Lucy Navratil (Windham) both cleared 5’ 02”.

Triple Jump

This past week saw four more girls clear 33 feet. Sarah Frye (Nashua North) jumped 33’ 07.75” at the Nashua South Home Meet. Sara Boudreau (Spaulding) 33’ 05.5” at the Salem Home Tri.

Emma Millette (Nashua South) jumped out to 33’ 03.5”. Lexie Rogers (Exeter) won the Oyster River Spring Classic with her 33’ 01.5” jump this weekend.

Long Jump

Teammates Shukri Mohamed and Shekinah Ngira (Manchester Central) jumped 18′ 01.25″ and 16′ 08″ respectively. Pearl Marvel (Gilford) won the Winnisquam Meet over the weekend with a jump of 16′ 08″.

Pole Vault

Emma Millette (Nashua South) and Bridget Powers (Bishop Guertin) jumped 9’ 06” and 9’ 00” respectively.

Throws

Javelin

There were two new girls who threw over 100 feet this weekend. Josie Lefebvre (Manchester Central) 107′ 03″ and Jasmine Blake (Pembroke) 104′ 04″ both threw over 100 foot mark. The top two girls in the state, already over 100 feet, won the invitationals they competed at as Madelyn Donohue (Raymond) won the Sanborn Regional Invitational and Elizabeth Joy (Coe-Brown) won the Oyster River Spring Classic.

Shot Put

Georgia Kondi (Mascoma Valley) opened her season by launching one over 41 Feet, 41’ 03”!

Discus

This past week saw seven new girls throw over 100 feet this season. Isabelle Grenier (Coe-Brown) 112′ 04″, Brynn Johnson (Windham) 108′ 09.5″, Carolyn Kemp (Bedford) 108′ 01″, Emmie Wentworth (Portsmouth) 103′ 03″, and Vanessa Ortiz Cuevas (Nashua South) 101’10.5″, Zoe Rick (Milford) 101′ 01″, and Genny Blanchette (Merrimack Valley) 100′ 07″.

Boys

Sprints and Hurdles

100m

Gavin Buxton (Bow) 11.05 was enough to take down the field at the Oyster River Spring Classic. Although Joshua Pettingell (Milford) didn’t improve his season best, he was the fastest at the Sanborn Regional Invitational.

200m

After winning the 100, Gavin Buxton (Bow) came back and won the 200 with a 22.98 at the Oyster River Spring Classic. Andrew Desmarais (Hollis/Brookline) ran 23.01 at the Alvirne Home Meet and Osinachi Nwabueze (Pelham) ran 23.06 at the Milford Home Meet.

400m

Ross Stephens (Con-Val) won the Milford Home Meet by over 3 seconds sprinting across the line in 48.19! Quincee Lewis (Spaulding) won the Oyster River Spring Classic in 51.51.

110m Hurdles

Wayne Crowell (Keene) was the only new member under 16 seconds this week He ran 15.12 at the Merrimack Home Meet.

300m Hurdles

Ryan Jamison (Winnacunnet) ran 40.08 at the Winnacunnet Home Meet. Wayne Crowell (Keene) ran 40.49 at Merrimack Home Meet.

800m

Who will be the first to break 2:00.00 this season? Grant Skorupan (Milford) won the Sanborn Regional Invitational in 2:01.30.

1600m

Oliver Lehman (Oyster River) won the Oyster River Spring Classic in 4:29.28. Josiah Conley (Concord) ran 4:29.54 at the Bedford Home Meet. Lucas Gomez (Salem) ran 4:34.01 at the Salem Home meet.

3200m

Peyton Joslyn (Monadnock) won the Sanborn Regional Invitational in a state leading time of 9:42.47. Josiah Conley (Concord) ran 9:56.80 at the Bedford Home Meet. Sullivan Sturtz (Keene) 9:59.29 at the Merrimack Home Meet.

Jumps

High Jump

Ethan Morin (Milford) is top in the state now at 6′ 05″. Ben Bloom (Portsmouth) won the Oyster River Spring Classic and Kristoff Cauley (Hopkinton) won the Sanborn Regional Invitational, both cleared 6′ 0″.

Long Jump

Osinachi Nwabueze (Pelham) has the longest jump in the state now at 21′ 10″. Noah Chery (Timberlane) found himself over the 20 foot mark with a 20′ 05″.

Triple Jump

Osinachi Nwabueze (Pelham) won the Sanborn Regional Invitational with a 45′ 11.5″. Preston Bois (Nashua South) jumped 43′ 03.5″ at the Nashua South Home Meet.

Pole Vault

The Pole vault has a new leader sitting at 14 feet. Preston Bois (Nashua South) cleared 14 feet at the Nashua South Home Meet. Logan Putnam (Spaulding) cleared 11’ 07” at the Salem Home Meet.

Throws

Shot Put

Barnaby Diehn (Mascoma Valley) threw it 51′ 09” which is the state lead. Charles Barrett (Alvirne) had an impressive toss 48′ 01″. Colin Myers (Mascoma Valley) threw it out to 47′ 05.5″. Owen Dion (John Stark) won the Sanborn Regional Meet with a throw of 46′ 00″.

Discus

Barnaby Diehn (Mascoma Valley) continues to prove to be good at throwing objects, launching a discus out to 175′ 6″. Charles Barrett (Alvirne) threw an impressive 150′ 07″ early in the week at the Alvirne Home Meet. Grant Spooner (John Stark) threw 150’ 02” at the Coe-Brown Cluster Meet.

Javelin

Ayden Hodge (Newport) won the Sanborn Regional Invite with a throw of 175′ 01″. Sawyer Penny (Nashua South) threw the jav to a distance of 166′ 04″ from his throw at the Nashua South Meet.
