In what seemed like the first time all year, Mother Nature smiled upon the XC runners of NH. Under blue bird skies with temps in the mid-70’s, competitors enjoyed the first non-oppressive running day of the early year. A challenging course with dirt, woods and rolling hills awaited the runners as 17 teams made their way to the start.
The boys toed the line first at 4pm and a fast pace was set early by returning D-3 champion, MOC’s runner-up Cam Daly of Inter-lakes HS. He eventually pulled away and won in very comfortable fashion, posting a time of 17:06. The rest of the podium was occupied by Gilford senior Ryan LaFrance in 17:33 and senior Andrew Chabot of Plymouth Regional in 18:11.
The Derryfield School won their 2nd straight Early Bird title in a nail biter over Plymouth Regional by the score of 87-88. Four runners placed in the top 16 with Ben Garfield and Caleb Richmond getting top 10 shirts. Bow HS finished 3rd with 144 points.
The Girls’ Race was underway at 4:45pm and Hopkinton senior Sarah Nadeau powered to the front early to win with ease in 21:14. White Mountain’s Alex Curtis & Leah Dutkewych finished 2nd and 3rd in 21:53 & 21:58 respectively to complete the podium.
The White Mountains squad, running as a pack, finished 2,3,4 to win the team title with 63 points. Moultonborough edged out Newfound Regional 88 to 91 to round out the top 3.
Thanks to Gilford HS for always hosting such a great, well run event.

Nice run by Cam Daly and the crew from Derryfield. The White Mt. girls look tough like expected and Sarah Nadeau is exactly where we expected her to be, at the top.
